Master Meow - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: His Treasure
While she was in the middle of contemplating, the giant cat had already opened the third cabinet.
A hint of nostalgia appeared on his face as he looked at this cabinet, which was quite smaller compared with the other two.
Inside, it was full of all kinds of messy and inexplicable old things, like a dull-colored feather, a long pointed bee sting, a porcupine quill, a claw board that was about to break off, a bumpy ball with teeth marks, and there was also a tangled ball of yarn.
One by one, Wells stroked the things inside with nostalgia as these were the toys he had grown up with. The feather was from the first time he had caught a bird, while the porcupine quill was left as a memento after he killed it when he first hunted alone.
As for the scratch board, although it was not good-looking, he made it by himself since he had no other toys at that time. His brother would also throw his unwanted scratch board to him, and although he didn’t want it, he still longed to have one of his own.
Usually, Wells didn’t want to recall these past events, which would reveal his fragile side. But when facing his pet, he was willing to share his past.
Wells doesn’t really want to recall these past events that revealed his fragile side. However, facing his little pet, he was willing to share them with her.
“This ball of yarn, I got it after exchanging ten catties of mulberry leaves for this silk thread from the silkworm tribe. At that time, the mulberry leaves from that place were owned by someone. So, I secretly stole the mulberry leaves little by little every morning. It took me seven days to collect enough leaves. It was especially difficult for me to climb the tree while trying to not to be caught by them.”
Lu Qiu couldn’t understand what he was saying, but she could tell from the giant cat’s tempo and warm tone, which sounds pleasant to the ears, that his mood was nostalgic and proud of himself. Because of this, she wished to learn the language used in this world.
She rubbed the giant cat’s chin and patiently listened to his words, which she could hardly understand, telling about the past.
At that moment, Lu Qiu’s heart felt content after looking at that long porcupine quill and ball of yarn. This is it, the readily available alternative!
Although the porcupine’s quill was a bit thick, it could be used as a needle after grinding carefully.
So, in front of Wells, who was about to close the cabinet door, Lu Qiu reached out and grabbed the porcupine quill and ball of yarn.
The porcupine quill was one and a half meters long. Unexpectedly, it wasn’t heavy. The ball of yarn was also the same. Lu Qiu grabbed one with one hand and looked up at the giant cat.
Wells didn’t expect that the pet would like them, so he happily agreed to let her take them out to play.
Later, when they returned upstairs, Lu Qiu once again climbed to the kitchen.
There was a pair of scissors in the kitchen, but she didn’t know why there were scissors inside.
After climbing the kitchen counter several times, Lu Qiu was now quite skilled and could easily climb up to the kitchen counter.
Wells stood at the kitchen door and watched, but didn’t follow her in.
He then left and went downstairs, but his face didn’t look good as he left Lu Qiu’s sight range. One could even notice his brows tightly knitted together.
He opened the medicine box and took a bottle out. After Lu Qiu had finished the last bottle of immune booster, Ruth quickly ordered another batch, and they just arrived this afternoon.
Wells opened the bottle and tilted his head to drink it, unlike Lu Qiu, who received a medication shot.
He was in pain this whole afternoon, not because of the fight with the jackals, but because he sustained an injury after Lu Qiu crushed him to the ground as he catched her from falling.
When a human, whose weight is of mere 100 pounds, fell from 70 meters height, even with Wells’ physique, he couldn’t stand the impact from the gravity’s acceleration.
He had kept Lu Qiu from getting hurt, but he was unable to prevent himself from getting injured. He postponed his treatment until now as he thought that the little pet’s situation was more important to him.
He wouldn’t die anyway, and this kind of small injury was nothing to him. Even if it was left alone, it would recover soon enough. However, it would still hurt for a period of time, and this pain had affected his condition. So, after considering it over and over again, he still decided to find the medicine and drank it.
Without dallying for a long time downstairs, he quickly returned to his bedroom right away.
Meanwhile, Lu Qiu was in the middle of cutting his clothes using a pair of scissors.
She had no old clothes to compare with and there’s also no rulers or tape measures. It was so difficult to create fancy clothes, but she could only rely on her visual assessment for everything.
After thinking about it for a while, she found an excellent way to make a ruler using the ball of perfectly tangled threads.
So, for a long time, she had been keeping her head down to take out the tangled thread group, which was so badly knotted it could be considered as a dead knot. It seemed that someone had tried to solve it before, but it got worse and worse.
Wells slowly strolled into the kitchen, loosen his hind legs, and sat in front of the kitchen counter while looking at the thing in her hands.
Lu Qiu sat on the edge of the kitchen counter with her legs hanging down just like how she sat on the same spot this morning. The shock she received from the giant spider’s sudden appearance was almost gone now.
Wells watched as the thread, which looked impossible to be untied, was slowly spreading within the pet’s nimble hands; dropping and lengthening, and almost falling to the ground.
He moved his claws and tried to restrain himself for a while. However, he couldn’t help but lift his claws, grab the thread and pull it up.
Before Lu Qiu could fully unravel the tangled ball of yarn, she noticed that the portion, which she had successfully untied, entangled once again in the cat’s playful paws. So, she carefully pulled the thread that was jumbled around them.
“Be a good boy, don’t grab it yet.”
Lu Qiu said while lifting her eyes to see the smart giant cat who was sitting in front of her with his paws. Even when he’s only sitting on the floor, he was still much taller than her who was on the kitchen counter. She couldn’t help but smile at this realization.
