Master Meow - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: Lu Qiu’s Sautéed Beef
Naturally, the dish that Lu Qiu brought to the kitchen wasn’t the fruit dish. Rather, it was the meat that Wells had torn apart but had not yet eaten.
With so much meat, even if she ate a little, no one ought to know it.
It’s just a little bit, nothing more.
The meat looked very similar to beef, fresh and tender. Amongst the fine red grain of muscles, flecks of snowflake-white fats scattered, and the smell wasn’t as fishy. According to one of her very few experiences, the quality of this meat was absolutely the best.
With difficulty, Lu Qiu held the plate towards the kitchen. She felt slightly embarrassed as this kitchen counter seemed to be very high-end, and she didn’t know how to use it properly. She didn’t even see where to place the pan.
As she was busying herself in front of the stove, the robot, which hadn’t been moving, was suddenly activated automatically and floated behind her.
“May I ask, what is your order?”
The sudden voice made Lu Qiu jump out of fear. When she turned around, she saw the octopus-like robot looking at her with a grin.
Kind of scary.
Lu Qiu swallowed down a mouthful of saliva, then she pointed her finger to the kitchen counter and to the plate of meat.
This robot, even if it wasn’t very intelligent, should be able to understand her hand gestures.
The robot turned its head. It appeared to understand what she meant as it opened the cupboard, took out a huge pan and placed it on the kitchen counter, and then slowly opened the transparent cover to start heating the pan.
The robot lit on the empty board1 again. Within the cover, a cloud of white smoke appeared, yet it didn’t emit fire. After the white smoke rose, the pan slowly began to make a sound.
The smoke turned out to be the fire.
Lu Qiu’s eyes unmistakably saw the robot’s actions. It appeared that it wanted to add water and boil the meat inside the pan, so she quickly stepped forward to stop it.
What she wanted to eat was sautéed beef, not boiled meat in plain water.
Since she already knows how to control the stove, Lu Qiu opened the cupboard one by one and saw various kinds of pans, huge knives, plates, bowls, spoons, yet no chopsticks. There were also a few seasonings, oil, salt, sugar, and chili.
However, it was barely enough.
Fortunately, although these things were too big for her, they were not too difficult to pick up.
There was not enough time to marinate the meat in advance as she was already drooling now. After cutting the surface, she marinated it, although a bit reluctant, with salt and a small amount of chili for a while.
She held the meat and put it into the sink, which was bigger than the pan’s edge. From time to time, Lu Qiu would wipe the corner of her mouth to prevent her saliva from dripping into the pan.
The robot chef looked at her suspiciously then looked at the pan again, wondering why his job had been robbed.
The robot was rather confused. It didn’t know whether the little pet should be driven away or not. However, its program doesn’t have a setting about dealing with this kind of scenario. After being pushed away, it had no other option but to stand there rigidly.
Lu Qiu held a spatula, which was about the same height as herself, to turn the meat over and prevent it from burning.
She disliked meat that was too raw. Same with beef, she could only accept it if it was sixth-grade or higher maturity.
Along with the sizzling sound from the juice, the smell of meat also wafted out.
Lu Qiu took a deep breath. The long-lasting smell aroused her appetite and made her belly growl.
The meat’s color gradually darkened. She looked at it for a moment and fumbled to turn off the fire. However, when she pressed on the place where the robot touched before, there was no response at all.
Lu Qiu frowned. She squatted there and exerted all her strength to tap the board, but it was of no use. At last, she stomped her feet, and finally, the display began to lighten up again.
When she finally turned off the fire, the meat almost became ninth-grade maturity2.
Ninth-grade maturity was more fragrant. Lu Qiu laid at the side of the pan like a person who hadn’t eaten for days and nights. Her eyes, which were staring at the meat, were almost green.
Cooked food is good. Cooked food is wonderful.
Slowly, she held the pan and dragged it to the other side. She was incessantly blowing at the pan, making attempts to lower the meat’s temperature.
With her hand holding a 30-meter long knife… no, it’s a one-meter long knife, she cut the meat slowly into tiny pieces like she’s cutting a watermelon.
Cutting off the slightly charred skin would reveal the light red color of the meat inside. The white flecks of fat had melted after frying, making the whole meat more juicy.
Since she couldn’t use a knife, she directly pinched a piece of meat and stuffed it into her mouth.
Lu Qiu, who was too focused on eating meat, didn’t notice that the small ball, which she opened before, hadn’t been closed. It was flying over her head from the beginning to the end.
Throughout the time she was cooking, the ball also kept circling on top of her head several times before it floated on top of the pan, aiming at the meat inside. It made a slight mechanical buzz, and a faint light gleamed from the eye of the little ball.
When Wells went out through the front door, the little ball’s pair of eyes were still dim. Now that the eyes had lit up, it meant that it was linked to the live broadcast platform and became available for streamers to watch.
***
At the same time, over the Falling Star Forest.
Wells didn’t have any desire to pay attention to the bitter fighting that was going on beneath him. Instead, he opened his device and watched the live broadcast that was transmitted by the live ball without blinking.
Because he didn’t feel assured, he had connected his personal device to the live ball before he went out.
However, this was the first time he connected the live broadcast device. Therefore he didn’t notice that he started the live broadcast synchronously on the live broadcast platform by default.
This kind of live broadcast device was sold as a package with the STAR Net’s Shark Fighting3 live platform service by default. If you wanted to change the platform or not synchronize with the other platform, you could only manually set it, which was a little troublesome.
Nevertheless, London was the spokesperson for this live broadcast device. He was also the spokesman for STAR Net live broadcasting platform. Naturally, such binding was reasonable and fair.
Wells glanced impatiently at the various prompts that popped out, totally skipped all of them, and put all of his attention on his little pet.
Now that they were not there, and no one was looking after the stone castle. He wondered whether the pet would try to escape again.
Before he left, he didn’t close the window and the ceiling for the purpose of this moment.
To his surprise, Lu Qiu indeed made a move the moment they left. Her flying speed was quick enough, but she didn’t run away. Instead, she took the meat he cut into the kitchen, and then jumped onto the stove and began to fry the meat using the hot pan.
Wells: “…”
This event had surprised him that he couldn’t help but purse his lips. His round black eyes were practically twinkling like the stars, brimming with happiness inside.
The little pet was more lovely than he imagined. Giving a hundred points wasn’t enough.
At this time, Ruth finally ran closer. He was puzzled to see Wells grinning from ear to ear while looking all happy. He couldn’t understand the reason why.
What’s there to be happy about this terrible scene? Doesn’t he hate the smell of blood the most?
“My Lord?” He called out suspiciously.
Wells hid the device and the smile on his face at the same time, he then rushed down impatiently.
“Let’s finish this up quickly. I want to go back soon.”
But he closed his device way too soon… He didn’t notice that just outside the kitchen window where Lu Qiu was eating, a huge black limb had suddenly appeared.
