Chapter 41: The Smell of Desperation

At this moment, Lu Qiu was still squatting on the stove. It was very inconvenient for her as she eats, so she simply sat down and placed her legs on the edge of the kitchen counter. From time to time, she would use the long knife in her hand to fork a piece of meat and send it to her mouth.

Almost none of the marinated meat retained its original raw taste. The outer part was slightly charred, mixed with the tender and juicy inside. The saltiness was just right, and the slight spiciness could stimulate the taste buds.

Lu Qiu wanted to scream at her every bite.

The position where she was sitting was not directly facing the window. The window was on the left side, and the robot was still staring blankly in front of her, blocking her view.

Hence, when the kitchen’s light suddenly went dark, only then did Lu Qiu suspiciously turned her head to look outside.

It is still noon, and although the kitchen does not face the north, it has an abundance of light. How come the light suddenly darkened, is it going to rain?

Lu Qiu slightly leaned her body back, trying to guess and look out of the window to see the sky outside.

Then, she made contact with something that she should guard against with. Her eyes met a pair of enormous black eyes

On both sides of the black eyes, there were sturdy long legs covered with sharp short hairs that had come in from the window. At this time, the eight huge long legs on its both sides occupied one side of the window. The huge body of the dark brown spider was gigantic as it had firmly blocked more than half of the window.

How could there be a spider at such a high place? How did it crawl in?!

There was almost not enough time to think about these problems. Lu Qiu’s hand trembled, and the knife she had been holding nearly fell to the ground.

In an instant, her heart had uncontrollably leaped like crazy, and a feeling of intense fear had surged from her. She almost blurted out a scream, but Lu Qiu firmly clamped her mouth with her hands right away to suppress the scream back.

Must not scream, must not alarm it.

Get out of here. Hurry, get out of here. Close the door and don’t let it in.

Apparently, spiders were highly myopic. It couldn’t see clearly, so it could only rely on vibrations to perceive the outside world.

She knew that she had to leave the kitchen counter as soon as possible, but Lu Qiu’s movements suddenly became stiff. The lift-chair was placed not far from the kitchen counter for the convenience of going up and down.

She didn’t dare to put down the knife in her hand and climbed up the chair.

However, as she moved, the spider immediately stood up and followed her.

The spider was quite fast, not to mention the distance between them was so close.

Lu Qiu bit her lips and threw a piece of meat from her side towards the spider. The sound broke through the air and the vibration from things hitting the wall made the huge spider, which was about to approach, pause for two seconds.

The spider moved towards the place where the meat fell and caught the meat before it landed. Its long-pointed mouthparts were lifted and inserted into the meat. Within a short period of time, the meat turned into a pool of liquid and was absorbed by the spider.

This was Lu Qiu’s first time to clearly see a scene of how a spider eats. It was disgusting, terrifying, and scalp numbing.

When she had climbed onto the lift chair, the robot chef was still standing there, motionless.

Lu Qiu pushed it, and the robot moved aside.

At this moment, Lu Qiu quickly started the lift-chair to fly out of the kitchen.

But for her safety, the lift-chair’s speed wasn’t fast enough. By the time she flew out of the window, the spider had already climbed onto the robot. It was only one step away from her.

As soon as she stepped out of the kitchen, Lu Qiu immediately pulled the door open. However, the door was too big for her to close it in an instant. Moreover, the vibration from the sound when she pulled the door panel made the spider notice her position.

Lu Qiu quickly decided that the spider would surely jump on her face before the door was closed. After hesitating for less than a second, she immediately let go and flew out.

The spider behind jumped out of the kitchen, quickly following after her.

It was a hunting spider, not the one that creates a web nor digs a hole, and it was very fast and poisonous. Once caught, you would die and would officially be it’s food.

Lu Qiu didn’t know how a spider could come from the sky when she was just sitting at home. She didn’t even know where to hide, and the lift-chair couldn’t take her outside the castle. If she climbs up the window, she has to jump down.

But in such a big place, her speed couldn’t match the spider. She couldn’t escape. And in such a short time, she, together with the lift-chair, was immediately forced to climb onto the windowsill.

The windowsill, which allowed people to leisurely and comfortably basks in the sun during the day, had become a guillotine.

One step back was a bottomless cliff.

The giant spider was slowly approaching with its long hairy legs only a step away from her. Its pair of black eyes coldly stared at her.

Lu Qiu stood on the edge of the windowsill in despair.

She didn’t want to die at all.

But what could she do with such a giant beast?

Whoosh!

The giant spider took another step forward. The huge chelicerae1 was coming to grab her, and it’s terrifying mouth lifted up subsequently.

Lu Qiu closed her eyes in fear. Her body suddenly tilted back, and the person, together with the lift-chair, was rapidly falling down.
