Master Meow - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: The Breakfast
Although there were many kinds of foods in the Animal Kingdom, all of them couldn’t be compared with the human’s food she used to eat. She couldn’t eat in such an unscrupulous way. There was no animal who eats wholeheartedly as a human did.
At least, Wells didn’t have a strong sense of attachment to eating.
Cats were already good with meat and fish. Among those foods, they loved fishes the most, especially the fishy smell that comes out of it. Just like how people have a special attachment to meat, cats have a special attraction to fish.
Though, Wells wasn’t your typical cat. He had a keen sense of smell and didn’t like things that were too fishy. He always thought that it was smelly and would spoil his appetite. The variants of fishes he had eaten were all excellent varieties that have been specially selected.
The fishes he ate, some of them originally lived in the nearby forest and river, some of them weren’t originally from here, but later were specially cultivated as food goods.
The snake or crocodile that lived in the river would help to look after one or two.
Currently, the fish Lu Qiu saw was the same breed as yesterday’s fish, despite it being twice larger than yesterday’s. Its size was more than three meters. The fish had been knocked out, so it can only flap occasionally. Yet, it made the plate ‘thump’ and almost fell off the table.
As this table was also more than five meters wide, Lu Qiu had no other choice than to climb her way up to get the food.
On the table, the fish was still flapping. The fishtail had caused her face to be splashed with water. And now, a faint fishy smell could be detected from her head to toe.
Lu Qiu wiped her face. The strong smell had made her lose her appetite.
Wells tilted his head while looking at Lu Qiu. He pushed her towards the fruit which had been carefully sliced into pieces, making it easier to eat.
Today’s fruit was changed. It was different from yesterday’s. It appeared to be crispy like the milky-colored date fruit.
She was not able to determine what the current season was. Yesterday when she went out, she saw that the grassland was green and the forest she saw didn’t have any yellow leaves. She was guessing that it’s probably spring. After all, it couldn’t be this cold in summer.
Strangely, although it was cold to the point that she was always shivering, she didn’t catch a cold nor felt sick these past two days. On the contrary, she seems to be getting used to it already.
Humans sure had the attribute of a cockroach1.
It wouldn’t be good if she didn’t eat. The fruit was acceptable, so Lu Qiu took some of the fruits and quickly ate them. These fruits were completely eaten in an instant. Now, she got no idea on what to do next.
She looked towards the kitchen once again and wondered if she perhaps could borrow it. If only she could communicate with them. That would be great.
Seeing her eating well, Wells settled down and began to bite the living fish.
Wells was a fussy eater as he was quite particular about his food. Before dark, he couldn’t see things clearly. This time, in the morning, Lu Qiu sat on the edge of the dining table. After she finished eating the fruits, she looked up at him.
The hind legs of the giant cat were placed on both sides of his body. The whole back of his spine was bent down, forming a rounded arc from the back of his head to his buttocks. His long hair seemed to glow under the morning sun.
The two ears, which had been hidden under his fluffy fur all this time, finally showed up. The tip of his thin ears was swaying cheerfully as if they were out of control.
Lu Qiu couldn’t figure out what kind of breed this giant cat was. In fact, it looked like a Norwegian Forest Cat, but its fur was longer than that breed, and its facial features were fiercer.
Although most of the hair on its body was gray, it was not dirty gray, but a little smokey gray. More like light-gray. The hair on his chest was whiter, and his front paws, which were often licked and cleaned, were as white as snow.
What kind of mixed-breed is it?
On the other hand, Wells reached out and pressed the back of the fish, biting the skin open. Although the fish was still alive, Ruth knew that he didn’t like scales, so he had them scraped off earlier.
After tearing off the light blue skin, the glittering and translucent fish meat inside was exposed. There wasn’t any fishy smell from the fish, and the meat tasted light and sweet.
Cats usually couldn’t taste sweetness, but Wells had a superior sense of taste. He could taste different things, and he liked sweets in particular. But Ruth had been keeping a tight rein on the amount of sweets he could eat daily.
Wells finally realized that he was being stared at, after such a long time, by the little pet’s eyes. He swallowed a mouthful. Then, he tore off a small piece, which was about Lu Qiu’s bite-size, and placed the small piece of fish meat at the tip of his claw, just like the cheese he fed her last night.
The tip of the claw that was holding the fish was extended to Lu Qiu, indicating that she should quickly eat it.
Lu Qiu didn’t want to eat it, she really disliked eating raw meat. No matter how good the taste of raw meat was, she was more afraid of the parasite the meat could have.
However, she couldn’t bear to let him down. Especially when she was being stared at by the giant cat’s amber eyes. She moved slowly and finally swallowed the fish given to her.
