Chapter 23: The Dinner

Lu Qiu originally believed that Wells came back to steal the bird egg. She didn’t expect Wells to place two plates next to the bird egg. One of the plates contained a simple boiled meat that was shredded into strips. ​Without any seasonings or salt, it smelled a bit fishy.

The other plate contained fruits but they were different from the morning ones. She couldn’t see the fruit clearly because the room was too dark.

The bird eggs were cooked simply and were still steaming on the outside.

Just this morning, her eyes gleamed greedily the moment she saw the fish. This time, it was cooked meat. Whether it was good or bad, Lu Qiu tore a strip of meat which was thicker than her thigh and stuffed it into her mouth. The meat was white and tasted like a chicken. An old chicken with hard meat to be exact. She chewed for a while until she hurt her teeth. Despite that, the meat refused to be chewed up.

The more she chewed, the fishier the smell got. It was so nauseating that her stomach couldn’t help but churn.

Lu Qiu didn’t know where to spit and didn’t dare to spit. Therefore, she was forced to swallow and then stayed away from that plate of meat.

The egg cooled down a little bit. Ruth flicked the eggshell open with his paw until the shell was completely broken while the egg white stayed intact. Then, he pushed the egg over to her.

Lu Qiu looked at Ruth’s hand hesitantly, then looked at the incomparable protein again. She sighed and gave up and went straight to take a bite.

Aah~ Such a long-lost familiar taste.

The egg was too big. She shook her head at both, signaling that she would not eat it.

Wells then slowly grabbed the plate back, bowed his head, sniffed where Lu Qiu had bitten, and then opened his mouth to eat the rest.

However, he never imagined that as he tried to eat the egg, he would withdraw his tongue right away. He tilted his head in disgust.

Lu Qiu keenly saw that Wells was sticking his tongue out.

The egg was still a bit hot, but in fact, only a little bit of heat was left. After all, with how cold the temperature was, any hot food would quickly cool down. But the giant cat had a cat tongue and was particularly afraid of hot dishes.

Lu Qiu pretended to eat a fruit before she laughed.

Dinner was simply settled.

Ruth took away the table and the dishes then went out.

From a day of observation, Lu Qiu found that Ruth had been busy running errands and he would not eat together with them. He was like a faithful and responsible servant.

How strange that a leopard became a mere servant to a cat.

Lu Qiu thought that Wells would leave after eating. She didn’t expect that before long, a long and slender black shadow appeared right outside the door. The black shadow’s head almost stood against the door frame.

Suddenly seeing this shadow inside the dim room made Lu Qiu taken aback. The black shadow slowly entered the house. It walked toward the bed and shrank to two meters high.

It had a human-like head, slender limbs, short hair, and was walking upright.

Human? This is a human? How can a human grow bigger then suddenly get smaller? Have the humans here also mutated into such a miraculous being?

Lu Qiu was nervous and she felt complicated. Her heart was thumping. She widened her eyes as she watched the figure who was walking towards herself.

And just as she was trying to see more clearly, the chest and forehead of the over-two-meters tall ‘human’ suddenly lit up.

Lu Qiu immediately raised her arms to block her eyes. She had begun to adjust to the darkness so the sudden light made her eyes hurt.

Blinking hard, she slowly lowered her arms after a while.

Why do I always feel that whenever​ I open my eyes, I will see something terrifying?
