Chapter 35: The Impossible Surgery

A thief with a thick beard and a rusted sword threatened them. The Crown Prince frowned.

“He’s a drug addict.”

“It seems so.”

The man’s hands were trembling. And his unclear eyes were a clear indicator of his addiction.

“It’s been a while since they were outlawed, but this guy is blatantly showing it in the capital.”

“I’ll order Sir Hasel to look into it.”

“Yes, but let’s give that addict over to the guards first.”

They met the thief with a sword with confidence.

‘I can handle 10 of those thieves.’ Thinking that, the servant got out the sword from his side and held it out in front of him.

“If you don’t want to be hurt, put that sword down.”

“Don’t come closer!”

The thief stepped back. The servant approached the thief, planning on grabbing him immediately. The Crown Prince just calmly looked on while smoking his cigarette.

‘This is boring.’ It wasn’t something he should be thinking in this situation when his life was threatened, but it was boring. ‘Yes, boring.’ He looked at the night sky. Was it because of ‘that day?’ He was someone who would rule this empire but he always felt bored and dry. ‘Unnecessary thoughts.’ He turned his head.

“Ack! Go away!!”

Eventually, the addict tried to run away, throwing his sword down.

“Stop there!”

“Don’t follow me! I’ll kill you!!”

His servant followed right after him and grabbed the collar of the thief. The servant, Baronet Landol, grinned thinking he caught him.

“You! Stay still!”

But it was at that moment! A completely unexpected sound rang out.

Tang!!

“Huh?”

Landol groaned. His stomach started to hurt, and his vision became dark. ‘What?’

“Landol!!”

He could hear the Crown Prince shouting his name.

“I-I said I would kill you!”

The drug addict pointed the gun towards the Crown Prince.

“I’ll kill you too!”

Landol clenched his teeth to not black out. ‘Your Highness….!’

The Crown Prince wouldn’t die if he was hit, but Landol still swung his sword.

The thief immediately died, and the Crown Prince arrived at Landol’s side.

He bit his lips. ‘He got hit in a critical area!’

“Your Highness…thank you for everything so far.”

The servant barely got his words out and dropped his head.

The Crown Prince frantically felt for a pulse. It was faint, but it was still there. The Imperial Cross Hospital was too far. Landol wouldn’t last that long. ‘Rosedale is too far as well.’ Then, he thought of one hospital.

Teresa Hospital! It was the biggest hospital in Londo. Was it a play of fate? That evening was when Baron Grayam and his apprentice Elise were on duty.

Even late at night, the medical relief center was busy. A man dripping with blood, a woman groaning in pain…amidst all that pandemonium, a young girl approached a doctor.

“Doctor, I’m finished with the patient with the dislocated shoulder.”

The young professor Grayam turned around, A lithe, but still elegant expression. He saw a girl who didn’t look like she belonged here.

“How did you take care of it?”

“I externally rotated it and then reduced it.”

Grayam couldn’t help but be shocked into silence. Now, he was used to the surprise he felt. ‘A young girl used Kocher’s methods to fix a dislocated shoulder after only 1 month. Who would believe it?’

He checked the patient’s condition to confirm, but it was like always. It was better than when Grayam did it. ‘Just how is she able to do that?’ He asked himself that for the nth time.

The girl was a genius. Not a half-genius like him, but one that could change the world. However, now he was asking himself another question.

Could even a genius do that? Not only was she extremely talented, she seems like a complete doctor who doesn’t need any more training. Like she was born to be a doctor. ‘Nonsensical thoughts.’ Grayam shook his head.

She wasn’t the fairy of the medical field, but how would that kind of person exist? But the girl was amazing enough to make him think those absurd thoughts. ‘Even if I’m teaching her, I feel like I’m speaking with a fellow doctor.’

There were a lot of patients today, but it was bearable with her. She had the skills of an accomplished doctor.

“Rose.”

“Yes, doctor.”

“Aren’t you tired?”

Elise widened her eyes at that question. It was the first time the cranky guy had said something like this.

“I’m ok.”

“Ok, if you’re tired, head inside and rest a bit. The patients seem to be somewhat fixed now.”

At his soft words, Elise smiled.

“Thank you for being concerned.”

Seeing her smile, Grayam’s face stiffened. It was too pretty. Pretty enough for his heart to beat faster. Grayam inwardly cursed himself. ‘Wake up Grayam, she’s your apprentice.’ It definitely wasn’t because he felt anything towards her. His heart beat faster only because her smile was so pretty. Yes, that was all.
