Queen of the Scalpel - Chapter 34 - The Impossible Surgery
Chapter 34: The Impossible Surgery
“Anyways…though I see it often enough, Your Highness’s powers are quite mysterious. Changing your face like that completely.”
“Again.”
“Oh, again. I’m sorry, sir.”
The Crown Prince’s face was able to change because of the supernatural powers that were passed down from the Romanoff family. They were the last supernatural powers in the empire, and it was owned by the Imperial Family.
The servant, Baronet Landol thought to himself. ‘That power really is the symbol of the Imperial Family.’
Only his family could use that power in the entire continent. Its significance was colossal. Some thought the reason why the Romanoff family was able to stay in power so long was because of their abilities. Of course, the reason why was because of what the citizens thought about the family, not because of their powers. With the advanced machinery in this age, powers didn’t mean much.
You still couldn’t ignore its significance. The citizens of the Britia Empire were proud that their Emperor had supernatural powers.
“Your…I mean, sir. Is your body alright?”
“Body?”
“Haven’t you been tired these days?”
“I have.”
“Isn’t it because you aren’t able to sleep comfortably?”
Sleep? The Crown Prince smirked at that. Ever since ‘that day’ when he was 15, he never got a good night’s sleep. Because of the repeated nightmares. But that wasn’t the reason why he wasn’t feeling too good these days.
“Have you been checked by the physician?”
“A long time ago. I’ve been taking the medicine he prescribed for me, so I should be getting better.”
The servant spoke in a worried one.
“I don’t think the medicine is working. You’re always tired. How about being checked again after returning to the palace?”
The Crown Prince had been feeling tired for quite a while now. But he shook his head.
“It’s nothing special. Let’s just wait a bit.”
“Your Highness…but…”
“It’s fine. I’ll take care of it.”
The servant had to stop talking.
“Then let’s go back now. I’m worried you’ll get worse.”
“…”
“Is there somewhere you want to look around again?”
The Crown Prince didn’t answer. Actually, there was one place he wanted to visit. It was Teresa Hospital. Where his future fiance Lady Clarence was working.
-Let’s see how that child Elise is doing.
‘Elise…’ He frowned. He remembered the last time he saw her. The girl who had completely changed…no, she had changed into ‘her’ and appeared. The girl that day was so similar to ‘her’ that he doubted his eyes. ‘But…’
He remembered what she said.
-I apologize that talks of engagement have been exchanged because of me.
-You don’t like me.
For some reason that got on his nerves even though there was no reason to.
“Your Highness?”
His servant called his Your Highness again. He thought his servant really didn’t listen to him.
“Let’s go back to the palace.”
He had received his father’s orders, so he should go, but for some reason he didn’t feel like it. ‘Engagement.’ He muttered the word to himself. The results of the bet would have to be revealed, but she would definitely become his fiance. There was no way she would win, and the Emperor really wanted her.
Although he looked nice and mild, that wasn’t the case. The Emperor was a giant who ruled the most influential empire in the world. The moment he wanted it, the engagement was already decided. He had only pushed it back because of his affection for the girl he considered his niece.
‘Well, it doesn’t matter whoever becomes my fiance.’ After ‘that day,’ he only had goals. So it didn’t matter who his fiance was.
“Please come this way. I’ve prepared the carriage. It’s a bit far, so you’ll have to walk a bit.”
The servant led him. And they entered a dark creepy alley.
“Do we have to go this way?”
“If we don’t go this way, we have to go around the long way. Please don’t worry, Your HIghness. If a thief appears, I’ll take care of it, haha.”
Although he looked like a middle aged man, he was an outstanding knight of the Royal Knights. He could easily deal with a thief that appeared here with one hand.
‘And the supernatural war hero of Angeli, the Crown Prince, won’t lose either, unless a whole militia comes.’
But did his words lead to this? Someone appeared in the middle of the dark alley.
“Stop…there.”
“…!”
“G-Give everything you have…”
