Chapter 196: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (95)
While Qi Yue went to buy snacks with Su Hai, Shu Nuan and Wen Zhigu sat under a tree and gazed at the lake. Zhigu turned to look at Nuan’s injured right hand. After a long time, she muttered, “If I knew this would happen, I would have not let you go to Southern Xinjiang.”
Shu Nuan said, “It’s fine. The physician said that the cast could be removed in another half month.”
“How do you feel?”
Shu Nuan lowered her head. She grabbed a stone with her hand and flipped it a few times.
“I will be alright. ”
She was still too naive to know how to compromise.
“How about you? Have you come back after the inspection?” When Shu Nuan mentioned the assignment, she felt guilty. “I thought I could come back to you after meeting with him, but in the end, I let down Teacher Li.”
Wen Zhigu nodded softly and said, “Teacher Li can understand your situation.”
Zhigu thought of something and narrowed her eyes. She looked at the center of the lake and whispered, “I will drop out of school in a few days.”
Shu Nuan frowned and turned back to look at her.
Wen Zhigu pursed her lips.
“I can’t help it.”
Shu Nuan stood up.
“So you plan to drop out of school?” Qi Yue asked in doubt from behind them.
He came over and handed them the milk tea in his hand. In a moment, Su Hai brought snacks.
“What did you say?”
Wen Zhigu didn’t mean to say more. She took over the milk tea and said thanks in a soft voice, before going back to sitting quietly on the rock.
As for Shu Nuan, she felt upset.
When she looked at her friend, she saw a human caged like an animal, bound by shackles.
Nuan felt that she herself was struggling in Qianmo’s net, but Zhigu had given up struggling.
Later, when they parted, Su Hai was still telling jokes to amuse them. At last, Nuan gave him a smile, and Su Hai let her go.
After finding an excuse to go shopping, Qi Yue suggested he’d escort Wen Zhigu on her way home.
“Do you want to drop out of school?”
In the end, Qi Yue couldn’t help asking her this question.
Wen Zhigu didn’t conceal her intentions. She murmured, “Mhm.”
“Why? You are doing so well.”
“Many things don’t have to have a reason,” Zhigu said, looking up at him, “Everyone has a reason for not being sincere.”
Qi Yue understood what she was saying. He frowned and asked, “Can’t you tell me?”
Zhigu shook her head.
Qi Yue only escorted her to the outside of her courtyard, and Zhigu didn’t invite him in either. She thanked him before waving goodbye.
After waiting for him to leave, Zhigu turned and bowed her head to open the door. Her mind was wandering. Someone made a noise behind her, causing her to startle and almost fall.
Ji Xubai stared at her and said, “Why did he escort you back?”
Wen Zhigu didn’t know when he’d appeared. She took a deep breath, stared at him, and said, “My house was on the way.”
“Who is that?”
“Just a classmate.”
“Since when has Class One had this man?”
Wen Zhigu’s heart became more choked with anger. She yelled, “Just a classmate! Student from another class!”
Ji Xubai gently frowned and held down her fidgeting hand.
“What are you shouting for. Which class?”
