Shen Ziqiao came out from behind the screen. The original character was dead but she was very much alive. She was unwilling to become a sacrificial lamb!

She pushed the door and found out that she had been locked in. It was exactly the same as the plot she knew. Sheng Peiyin would absolutely destroy her today!

Racking her brains for a way to get out of here, she heard a rustle of footsteps from outside the door.

Shen Ziqiao had no choice but to hide behind the screen again. She thought of not showing up for a while.

The door was opened and steady, firm steps across the floor rang out. And then there was the sound of the door closing. Afterward, a man quietly said, “Master, please rest here, this little one will wait outside.”

“En. Depart first.” The answer came from another man with a deep voice pleasant to the ears.

Only the slight opening and closing of the door echoed before the room plunged into stillness once again.

Shen Ziqiao knew the man inside the room wasn’t the ninth prince. Rather, he was known in the novel as Qi Zheng, the Duke An’s foolish son. Listening to his composed voice, she felt doubt stir inside her heart.

Is this the same person she had read about? Moreover, why is it so quiet?

Shen Ziqiao’s ears were pressed against the screen, eager to know what’s happening on the other side. Suddenly, the screen was pushed down hard, as a tall shadow stood in front of Shen Ziqiao. Before she could react, her neck was held in a choke hold. Hard.

“Who are you?”asked the man in a cold voice. In the gloom, his features were blurred. Only a sharp outline can be seen vaguely. Shen Ziqiao was strangled by the neck and couldn’t say a word, she had to slap the man on the arm.

His arms were strong as iron, she couldn’t move it a fraction.

“Save… life…” Shen Ziqiao struggled to squeeze out the two words. This was definitely not part of the plot!

When the man saw that she was a defenseless woman, he suddenly let go of his hand, the fierce light in his eyes immediately disappearing. Looking blankly at Shen Ziqiao he said, “I… thought it was a thief.”

Shen Ziqiao gasped, breathing a lungful of air as she listened to the man’s pleasant voice that was deep as a violin. She snapped only after she had regained her bearings, “I’m not a thief! Who are you even!?”

“Who are you?” The man answered after.

This conversation… she was not having it. Shen Ziqiao had a look on her face before she walked past him, towards the window curtains and parted it open.

The dazzling sun shone through the fragmented windows, falling upon the man. Shen Ziqiao met a pair of black pupils, eyes like deep pools.

He was a tall man with a straight posture dressed in a plain, indigo blue robe woven from Hangzou silk held by a marine blue lapel around his waist.

He was… very handsome. Shen Ziqiao was stumped for words to describe the man before her. From his features she could make out that he was about in his twenties. His face distinctly sculpted, eyebrows thick and eyes bright like stars.

Too handsome!

A pity though, that in this moment, the majestic face was immediately replaced with a foolish expression. The eyes drooped sluggishly, a childish look in place. From this, Shen Ziqiao was able to guess his identity at once.

“What are you doing in my room?” The man looked at Shen Ziqiao and towards the fallen screen again, the beautiful face was blank.

“Are you Qi Zheng?” Shen Ziqiao asked, trying to determine whether the plot she knew was developing correctly.

The man nodded.

Sure enough, it’s that Qi Zheng… Shen Ziqiao had no time to think of other ideas, so she made her way to the door and opened it, intent on leaving at once.

Sheng Peiyin’s voice came out and Shen Ziqiao closed the door immediately.

Qi Zheng looked at her suspiciously.

“Qi Zheng, I was brought here deliberately by others. Can you do me a favor?” Shen Ziqiao knew that the man’s mind did not match his age. She was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to understand her so she deliberately said in a simple statement, “Help me deal with bad people.”

“I’m not a bad person.” Qi Zheng’s handsome face was foolish.

It was too late to tell Qi Zheng in detail—the door of the compartment had been knocked open!
