Shen Ziqiao shook her head. “Grandma won’t let me out.”

“I’ll talk to the old madam for you.” Sheng Peiyin patted her on the back of her hand, confident that as long as it was her, the old lady would agree in a heartbeat to let Shen Ziqiao out.

“I’ll pass. Maybe next time.” Shen Ziqiao didn’t feel grateful; she was worried that Sheng Peiyin would conspire against her again.

Sheng Peiyin could only smile and nod, feeling sorely disappointed in her heart.
