Villainess and the Stalker - Chapter 24 - Reason for The Joint Lesson
Chapter 24 : Reason for The Joint Lesson
However, the harsh reality betrayed Conrad and I.
Meaning…
「Let’s see, everyone, gather here. It’s about time to start our lesson. It seems I should explain, since I see quite a few confused looks…」
Mirana Rosin-sensei, the teacher in charge of the summoning lessons, clapped her hands together, calling them to attention.
Sorcery research was usually quite time consuming, and the majority of sorcerers were reluctant to teach others the results of their research. Hence, the majority of the teaching staff was in the later years. Indeed, with time, their greed and envy had abated. But no matter what angle I looked at her, Professor Minara was still a young woman.
Regarding her age, she could still be in the late twenties.
At first glance, she looked like any other petite woman with light-brown hair and somewhat plain face.
Most people would be skeptical if she said she was a teacher at the Sorcery Academy.
Upon closer inspection, I was convinced that she was truly qualified to teach in this Royal Academy.
The reason was the absurd amount of mana that she possessed.
Although almost every student in the academy looked down on Professor Mirana, I knew that she was the real deal.
After all, the concentration of her mana was far greater than anyone else in this place, and yet she had complete control over it and could easily conceal it.
While her concealment technique was relatively basic, the difficulty of concealing one’s mana raised in proportion to how much one possessed.
It would have made sense that she could not perfectly conceal all of it.
… Even so, the look on Mirana-sensei’s face was as easy-going as ever.
Thus, I was convinced that she was a qualified sorcerer.
「How should I phrase it… She is an amazing sorceress.」
Conrad seemed puzzled over my words.
「… Is that so? Though I feel that she is an easy-going and friendly professor when you speak so highly of her… I mean, the other students went as far as calling her with a pet name, Mira-chan.」
「… EH?」
I really felt astonished when he told me about the other students’ carefree interaction with such an amazing sorceress but, well… I guess I could understand the reason for that.
There was no way I could do the same though. I knew what would happen if I were to poke her reverse scale.
Thus, I decided to call her professor, or at the very least, Mirana-sensei.
Then, Mirana-sensei continued on.
「Today’s joint lesson will be conducted as such with General Class – Class-3 and Special Class- Class-1. This arrangement will continue till the rest of the year.」
I could hear dissatisfied voices after Mirana-sensei explained the situation..
Those voices came from the students from Class-1.
When I strained my ears to hear more…
「This must be a mistake, why do we have to do this with the General Class?」「Our level is way too different, even if they’re flocking us together t——-」「In the first place, why do we have to attend Mirana-chan’s lesson? What happened to Claudio-sensei? He was supposed to be the one in charge of our class, wasn’t he?」
I heard them whisper along those lines.
Even though it looked like they were being conceited, their arrogant tone aside, they were right in the money.
In the first place, it was the right thing to separate the lesson between special and general class due to the difference in their grades.
Doing a joint lesson like this would only regress the learning efficiency, that’s why I agreed with what those Special Class students said.
In regard to the teacher… For some reasons, Claudio-sensei wasn’t assigned to Class-1.
According to Conrad, Claudio-sensei was a middle-aged sorcerer who was also working as the board director of Helios’s Summoning Arts Association.
Which meant that he was their [self-proclaimed] most suitable person to teach Class-1.
On the other hand, … I knew from a single glance that Class-1’s students didn’t think that Mirana-sensei had the qualification to teach them.
Thus , making Claudio-sensei an even greater sorcerer than Mirana-sensei. Now I felt that I needed to re-evaluate my standards towards Helios’s sorcerers.
I thought that if students considered Mirana-sensei’s lesson as a normal one, then Claudio-sensei’s might be even better than hers.
I mean that was natural for someone perched on the upper echelons of any country.
Mirana-sensei continued her speech despite the students’ impolite attitude towards her.
「… Regarding Claudio-sensei, he decided to retire for personal reasons. I don’t know the details, but I heard that he was having a hard time balancing teaching and board direction. As a result, he quit teaching and is continuing with the other one. The workload that was originally divided between us, has now come down to me. In short, going forward, I’m in charge of all Summoning Arts classes… However, my time is limited. Since I had no way to oversee every single class by myself, I’ve come up with the idea of combining several classes by doing this joint lesson. Thus, aside from Class-1 and Class-3, there are also Class-2, Class-4, and Class-5 in this joint lesson. Since many students of Class-1 and Class-3 have progressed further than the other classes, I want the two classes to hold back for now on. Please understand that I did so while taking into consideration the other classes whose lessons have yet to reach your level」
Mirana-sensei explained everything at once.
Although the students heard her explanation, safe for Class-3’s students, the Class-1’s students were dissatisfied. Contrary to her appearance, Mirana-sensei was unfazed despite the vehement protests.
In fact,
「… Don’t lump us together with the likes of Class-3~!」
When I silently looked at the Class-1’s student who said that…
「Then, you may leave. Naturally, you’ll have to come back again next year since you would have yet to receive the credit for this course… Otherwise, do your best during this lesson.」
They were shut down by Mirana-sensei’s merciless rebuttal.
And then, having confirmed everyone’s agreement to participate in this lesson, she said to us…
「Great, let’s start the lesson since everyone has agreed to stay. In accordance with what I just said, today, we’re going to let everyone directly summon the beast they’ve decided upon. Those who choose the other method will go on the field trip.」
It seemed like she let her students choose their preferred contract method themselves. The problem was, what would she do for the students like Conrad who wanted to look for their own suitable summon beast in the wild?
I raised my hand as I pondered about that question.
