Chapter 3381: You Mustn’t Disappoint Her

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Zhou Liangsheng quickly pulled Lu Penghai on the arm and said, “Master Lu, my wife doesn’t know how serious this is. Don’t lower yourself to her level.”

“Hmph!” Lu Penghai humphed coldly.

Zhou Liangsheng then said, “Master Lu, how about this? You can stay here and watch over them. This group of kids is just messing around. If something bad happens, you can help out. If you think she’s just messing around, we can stop her right away.”

Zhou Liangsheng begged, “Master Lu, I can only rely on you.”

Xie Jiling watched coldly. These two individuals seem to be doing a choreographed performance.

!!

It would be more suspicious if Lu Penghai didn’t say anything about leaving and quietly stayed. After all, it would be a loss of his dignity as well.

But if Zhou Liangsheng sincerely asked him to stay, that would be different.

It would seem like Lu Penghai had stayed for Zhou Liangsheng’s sake.

Surely enough, Lu Penghai listened to Zhou Liangsheng pitifully begging him to stay before he showed a reluctant expression while saying, “Sure. Since you said so, I will stay.”

Lu Penghai sneered and said, “I would like to see what the little girl that Mrs. Zhou trust so much is capable of doing.”

In a slightly threatening tone, he said to Xie Jiling, “Mrs. Zhou trusts you so much. You mustn’t disappoint her.”

Xie Jiling didn’t talk.

As someone with the ranking of a king, she didn’t need to respond to someone ranked bronze.

Of course, when she resolved the issue…

Lu Penghai might have a lot of things to say.

Xie Jiling took out a blank paper talisman from her bag.

With the same red gel pen, she started drawing symbols on the paper talisman.

Lu Penghai watched as Xie Jiling drew each line and thought that she was really good at acting.

However, when Xie Jiling was halfway done, Lu Penghai realized that Xie Jiling was not bluffing.

She actually knew how to do it!

Xie Jiling was sprawling a spell-breaking talisman!

Lu Penghai knew how to cast a curse. Of course, he knew how to break a curse.

He had studied this a lot.

In fact, he would be quicker than other exorcists to tell what Xie Jiling had drawn.

When he saw Xie Jiling drawing so quickly and with such familiarity…

Lu Penghai started feeling nervous.

Could Xie Jiling actually break the curse?

That was a level-four curse.

Curses had the same number of levels as talismans.

From level one to level nine.

Exorcists knew how to cast spells, but their skill levels depended on the spell levels they could cast.

The level of the spell was related to the level of talisman one could draw.

When one was placing a curse, one would have to know how to draw a curse-casting talisman.

And so, the level of talisman they could draw would affect the level of the curse they could cast.

Level four might not sound very advanced.

However, it was within the range of a medium-level talisman.

There was a great difference between a medium-level talisman and a beginner-level talisman.

A level four talisman would be considered medium-level, but a level three talisman would be a beginner-level talisman.

It might seem like a level 3 talisman, and a level 4 talisman was only one level apart from each other.

However, the level four talisman represented the threshold for someone to advance from a beginner-level talisman creator to a medium-level talisman creator. Hence, the difference between them could not be easily overcome.

Therefore, exorcists who could draw medium-level talismans were all referred to as masters.

This was not bragging at all.

Lu Penghai was supposed to be confident in the level of his talisman.

He had always been very confident, but for some reason, when he saw Xie Jiling drawing the talisman, he suddenly lost this confidence.

He started panicking more and more.

And then, he saw Xie Jiling place her pen down as she had drawn the talisman.

Lu Penghai’s eyes widened. Suddenly, he lost it and dashed forward.
