The Lady’s Facade was Ruined - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: The Secret
Although Shen Wanying got up half an hour earlier because she feared that she would sleep too long, and not be able to fall asleep again that night. Thus, she took a book and left her bedroom.
In the dormitory, the others were still sleeping. Since she didn’t have anything to do, she walked to the sports field by herself and there was no one in the spectator’s stand.
The place was breezy and had a shade to shield from the sun. The point was that it was empty enough. Only a few students sparsely stood in the whole stand.
Shen Wanying was facing the field, leaning gently in front of the railing, opening the book in her hand.
On the soccer field, there were boys playing soccer and several students were watching the soccer play in the stand.
Shen Wanying stood alone on the other side, quietly reading her book.
A fellow student who found her whispered to another, “Hey, you see Lady Shen there? She looks graceful while she is reading a book just now!”
The companion echoed, “Yes! Do you think everyone is like you, eating melon seeds?
“… What happened to my melon seeds? I haven’t thrown it away. Check that rubbish bin!”
Shen Wanying was found by the male students who were playing football on the field. Hong Hong immediately called Fang Yichang: “Brother Chang, Lady Shen has come to see us play football!
Fang Yichang looked in the direction of the stand and saw Shen Wanying standing there: “You’re right.”
With that, he glanced at Hong Hong beside him, “What do you mean by looking at us? She is looking at me.”
“Yes, yes, yes, to see you, brother.”
Fang Yichang raised his chin and through the court: “Brother, you have to win today’s game!
“Got it!”
The boys started playing harder. Although Shen Wanying in the spectator’s stand didn’t pay any attention to them.
On the other side of the stand, the girl who ate melon seeds wasn’t interested in watching the soccer game. Instead, she studied Shen Wanying, “Hi, what book are you reading? You look very serious while reading it.”
The girl’s companion pushed his glasses and said, “It seems that it’s the cover of Tagore’s collection of birds book or is it the original English version.”
“Wow. As expected of Our Lady, you also have a good eye for books.”
“Thank you. The glasses really match you.”
“…”
A light wind was blowing through the stand, Shen Wanying was smiling while turning the book’s page in her hand. It blew her long hair and skirt. The others secretly talked about her as a fellow student then took a photo with her mobile phone, praising herself: “The photo I just took is indeed beautiful. If I sell this photo, it surely won’t sell lower than Huo Cheng’s and Ji Yao’s photos.”
“Is that the picture you took? The Young Lady looks good.”
“’No… no… no.. I’m just the same as usual”
Huo Cheng also took a nap in the dormitory till around noon. On the way to the classroom, he saw Shen Wanying standing on the stand from a distance. He stopped where he stood, then naturally changed his direction, and walked towards the stand.
At that moment, there were more students on the field than before. Most of them were from the afternoon’s P.E. class. Shen Wanying stood alone at one end. There was a talk within some students, though she could faintly hear them, she didn’t care. But now when the name Huo Cheng was brought up again and again, Shen Wanying curiously raised her head to look.
Huo Cheng had gone to the stand. He came over to the place where he saw Shen Wanying standing, looked at her, “You are reading in here?”
“Yes.” Shen Wanying closed the book with a smile and said to him, “After sleeping in the bedroom for a while till noon, my head feels somewhat heavy. So, I want to get out for a breather. The wind’s breeze wakes me up a little bit.”
“Well.” Huo Cheng asked, “《The Flying Birds》?”
Shen Wanying subconsciously gripped the book to her arms: “En, I like Tagore’s poetry. Why did you come here?”
“Looking for you.” Huo Cheng said while looking at her, “We have a class soon. Don’t be late.”
“I know, I’m just about to go to the classroom.”
Huo Cheng: “Let’s go together.”
“Sure.” Shen Wanying came down from the stand with her book in her hand.
On the football field, Fang Yichang had been looking at Huo Cheng and Shen Wanying. He looked absent-minded, so Hong Hong also looked at the direction of the stand.
He was unhappy with Huo Cheng. Now that he saw him and Shen Wanying together, it made him even more unhappy: “Sh*t! Is Huo Cheng has a good relationship with Our Lady?”
Fang Yichang pursed his mouth and didn’t answer. Hong Hong knew that Yichang liked Shen Wanying, so he was even more aggrieved: “Brother Chang, is Huo Cheng deliberately against you? Other than us, no one can pursue Lady Shen. Nevertheless, we can’t lose!”
A male student roared at him. At that time, Fang Yichang, who was distracted, didn’t notice the ball flying towards his side. Fortunately, Hong Hong reacted quickly and kicked the ball away, “Are you blind?! You need to relearn how to play soccer!”
“Hey watch out! You aren’t any better!” Fang Yichang saw the football flying out toward the stand and shouted loudly, “Shen Wanying, be careful!”
Shen Wanying just walked to the edge of the stand and was startled by the sudden sound. Huo Cheng hugged her and tugged her aside before she could figure out the situation.
The football banged on the railing and bounced back.
Huo Cheng could care less about the soccer game, he merely frowned at Shen Wanying. “Are you alright?”
Although Shen Wanying was shocked, Huo Cheng pulled her away in time and was not injured: “I’m fine, thank you.”
Realizing that the two of them had a somewhat ambiguous posture at this time, Shen Wanying stood up straight and took a step back.
As soon as Shen Wanying pulled away from Huo Cheng, she heard a click and the book in her arms fell to the ground.
After landing, the book cover fell off, exposing the real book cover inside.
It wasn’t Tagore’s Flying Birds at all. Instead, it was an English novel called “Secrets”.
What the book title was actually didn’t really matter. More importantly, the cover of this book was two handsome boys, with one of them vaguely opening the collar of the other, biting down on his collarbone.
