Chapter 94: Chen Shu’s Sentiment (1)

At night, there was a torrential downpour. Covered by thick clouds, the sky was pitch-black, without stars or moon.

The rain poured down and hit the ground, making a dull noise. The rain all over the sky wove into a curtain. The weather was getting increasingly gloomier, weighing down on people’s hearts. For no reason, it made them distracted, and their thoughts were in turmoil.

Surrounded by reporters outside the hospital, the Huarui group had already deployed security guards. They sealed off the top floor of the hospital to prevent paparazzi from entering.

In the hospital late at night, it was tranquil. A big door blocked the noisy wind and rain. All the patients had fallen asleep. Occasionally, some doctors and nurses on night duty could be seen.

A particular ward was filled with a pungent smell of disinfectant. The curtains were ajar, and the moonlight was dimly visible.

The man in the patient’s robe was lying on the bed, with only a small lamp at the bedside turned on in the room. The faint light lit up his face.

Chen Shu was unconscious. His eyes were closed, and his brows were knitted, seemingly having a nightmare.

The rain hit the window frame, making a soft pitter-patter. Chen Shu, who was in a coma, returned to the abandoned night of his childhood—It was a similar rainy night.

Little Chen Shu was once again locked in the room by his mother, Cheng Yun.

The door was locked from the outside, and the light in the room was dim. Little Chen Shu curled up into a small ball and hid in the corner.

The heavy rain was blown by the violent wind, and the storm hit the window. As the window frame rang, Little Chen Shu was even more afraid, yet he didn’t dare to speak or make any noise.

At this time, the sound of an argument came from outside: it was Cheng Yun and his father in dispute. Cheng Yun’s tone was high, and her sharp voice came in, criticizing all kinds of bad things in their marriage.

Amid the sound of a suitcase being dragged on the floor and the grunt of wheels across the ground, Cheng Yun left, dropping one last sentence. “I’m leaving. Don’t ever come looking for me!”

Little Chen Shu got up from the ground and stumbled to the closed door. He slammed the door and cried, “Don’t go. Don’t leave me.”

His nightmare had raised its head again, causing Chen Shu’s whole body to turn cold. His heavy eyelids pressed against him.

That cold winter, Chen Shu couldn’t remember how long he had knocked on the door. The icy chill spread to his whole body. The nightmare haunted him, and he couldn’t keep his eyes open.

Until Chen Shu suddenly remembered Ye Sui’s face.

Ye Sui’s courage was very small. With the ability to see ghosts, she was most afraid of seeing them. Whenever she was scared, she would stay by his side.

A ghost in a haunted public mall, an empty bus full of ghosts, a city with a water ghost legend… Every time Ye Sui approached him, he misunderstood her actions.

Ye Sui’s hometown was quiet and peaceful, away from the city’s hustle and bustle.

On the road in the evening, the dusk light covered the way home. The sun slowly set as they walked back together.

Ye Sui had repaired his past traumas, and Chen Shu finally knew what a real home was. The past could not affect him anymore.

Chen Shu’s brain hurt. The night when both of them were drunk, the fragmented memory reappeared.

The couple, who had a weak drinking capacity, spoke their thoughts through drunkenness: I like you.

The good memories flashed back one after another. They were not like a replay, but rather like a long farewell. Suddenly, an overwhelming pain poked at his heart, reminding him of one thing.

In the cold night, their car drove on the road. Accompanied by deafening crashing sounds, the bitter and sweet voice of Ye Sui sounded in Chen Shu’s mind.

“Chen Shu, I like you.”
