Chapter 13 : Complete

Two days later at noon, I went to Mani’s Smithery.

Inside the paper bag that I carried were groceries, such as vegetables and fish which I bought, from the market.

…. Although I triumphantly gave money to buy the necessary materials for my Magic Sword to Mani before, I ended up having nothing to eat since I have less than 1000 Temis in hand.

And since I have no porter tools left, I couldn’t even work as a porter and almost reached my limit.

In the end, Mani who learned about my miserable situation allowed me to stay at her place and let me handle her daily chores and paid me in the form of free meals.

I arrived at Mani’s Smithery, rang the bell, and waited for a reply before entering the house.

「I’m back」

Mani stood on the other side of the door with her working googles strapped on her forehead.

「Dean, I finished it just a while ago. I have no idea whether you’ll like it or not but…. Your Magic Sword is complete. But I’ve yet to confirm the basic abilities of your Magic Sword since my Magic Hammer does not have 《Imu》.」

「R-Really, you finished it! ? C-Can I take a look at it!? 」

「Naturally! Naturally, I forged that sword for you, after all the one who will be troubled if you don’t see it is me, you see.」

(Alt to the sentence above I would probably change it to this but… up to y’all:

As our eyes locked, Mani broke into a smile and gave a hearty laugh. As quickly as it came, it almost immediately went back to her normal expression.

「The money you gave me was used to buy Kurogane – as recently it has started to become the most favorited material amongst adventurers. But, I feel bad for using such cheap materials… this was the limit of my current skills. 」

[ED Note: Kurogane is Black Iron. ]

Mani was trying to be humble, Kuroganes are D-ranked materials according to 《Imu》’s appraisal.

Even normal adventurers must splurge quite a bit just to get their hands on a Kurogane Magic Sword.

If it was a commission from others, Mani normally used an E-ranked Iron.

….. In short, the 80,000 Temis from me was used by her to buy enough Kurogane for one sword, my Magic Sword.

「For the Battle Bone, I used Fang. I got it just now at a relatively cheap price. Honestly speaking, without your 80,000 Temis, the sword might have ended up no better than 《Poor’s Blade Popo》.」

「T-That was so close….」

Fang is a D-ranked demon beast, similar to the Rat in terms of their threat level. But Fang topped Rat in terms of combat prowess. They’re agile demon beasts who have felled far more adventurers compared to the Rat. Because a small minority of them reached the danger level of C, they were considered as the most powerful D-ranked demon beast.

「It seems there’s a little bit leftover. Fufufu, please consider this as a gift to celebrate the moment you left the nest. Nevertheless, do not get careless. I mean, on my side, the chance to make a Magic Sword with such a high ranking magic core might not come around a second time. I’ve gained so much knowledge by making this Magic Sword.」

After she said so, Mani’s expression became a little bit darker than before.

「But I…… am worried you see. I mean, I’m substituting high-ranked materials with Kurogane and Fang which I know was far from enough to draw out the full potential of Beelzebub’s Demon Core. The end result should be a passable Magic Vessel, but to be honest…. It has only a very small portion of the true potential of Beelzebub’s Demon Core.」

Mani had given similar advice to me beforehand.

Well, it really couldn’t be helped that the forging process of this Magic Sword relied heavily on trial and error since there was no case such as this one before.

That’s why she told me that it might be for the best if we’re using the proper materials to draw out the true potential of the magic core instead of substitute one.

「Even for me, its creator…. Working on this kind of magic core was nothing more than a pipe dream before. And since I’m only【Lv:7】, my Alchemy is barely in use.」

Alchemy is also an essential skill for a blacksmith.

Because a normal blacksmith usually worked on metal with Alchemy by using their Magic Hammer.

Alchemy’s the kind of magic that works on inanimate objects. It seems to be an all-round magic that can manipulate things such as the density of the object, maintaining temperature, temporarily manipulating boiling point, among others.

Though I have no clear grasp about Alchemy since I’m not a specialist, what a blacksmith needed was to deal in high-grade metals that were high enough level with a Magic Hammer that was appropriate for their level.

In Mani’s case, she’s been using 《Kaguna [D]》 which she’d inherited from her father.

It seemed to be able to emit a flame with “Attack/Emission Magic”, assisting in controlling heat while using Alchemy, and could process metals with high magic resistance despite its low level.

But higher magic resistance metals needed higher skill, since the skill associated with how to use the hammer, became even more complicated.

『Though I think this weapon could never hope to match as this one’s vessel… I guess this much is acceptable since this case has never happened before. Even this mistress never expected that this one would become a Magic Sword someday.』

Beelzebub sent her thoughts from the direction of the desk. When I looked over there, I saw a sword placed on top of the desk. Buried in the crossguard of the sword was a blue crystal, Beelzebub’s Demon Core.

「Is this……. My Magic Sword….」

I, who have never held anything but the 《Poor Blade Popo [F]》 up until now, have a new sword. From now on, this sword is my new partner.

「C-Can I, touch it? 」

『Shouldn’t you…. Ask this mistress that question instead of that girl? 』

Beelzebub’s Demon Core cast a gloomy light as if she was irritated.

After I obtained both of their permissions, hand on the hilt, I unsheathed it from its scabbard.

Its black-colored blade from the Kurogane[Black Iron] was exposed.

It was a long, slender, and beautiful blade.

And yet, it weighed heavily in my hand.
