One of Gu Yezhi’s hands caught the cane that was about to hit on his head and he gave Old Master Gu a cold glare. “You are the one who gave birth to me.” 

In fact, before his mother’s death, Gu Yezhi’s personality was also very lively. But after she passed, he gradually became more and more indifferent and his aura became more powerful. No one dared to provoke him. 

Old Master Gu could only suppress his anger, unable to refute. He just stared at Gu Yezhi at a loss. But he still cared for his son. His mother had died early and Old Master Gu, not being the type of man who would take care of children, delegated Gu Yezhi’s care to his sister, Gu Yijing.

Gu Yezhi stood up and walked toward his father, placing Old Master Gu’s cane back into his hands. “Dad, I love Yan Yan very much. I hope you can respect her, because she’ll be the one to give you a grandson. She’s the person I want to spend my life with. You have no reason not to respect her!” 

The hand holding on his cane tightened slightly, showing some blue veins on the back of it. But Old Master Gu didn’t respond to his son’s words. 

Gu Yezhi stood up and asked, “Dad, are you going to stay tonight?”
 

“I’m going back.” Old Master Gu replied, standing up and walking out of the room. The people he brought with him immediately followed. 

Gu Yezhi stared at his father’s retreating back, lips pressed into a line. Even though that was his old man, he couldn’t let Bai Qingyan be wronged. 

He didn’t marry her back just to make people disregard her. 

He kept staring until he could no longer see his father’s face, then he turned back and went inside. As soon as he entered their bedroom, he saw Bai Qingyan sitting on the couch and taking notes with a pen, looking very serious. 

Her black hair spilling over her shoulders like a waterfall, with a few strands caught on her bright red lips. She looked gorgeous beyond measure. 

Unable to resist her charm, Gu Yezhi walked over and reached out, carefully brushing her fine hair behind her ears. He leaned over and kissed her soft and tender lips. 

“Well…” 

Gu Yezhi quickly retreated. “You study the script, I have a video conference to start.” 

She was a sensible woman. Every Friday night Gu Yezhi held a video conference with the BG Group executives. Due to the difference in time zone, while it was night for Gu Yezhi, it was morning for those executives. 

If it wasn’t for Bai Qingyan, he wouldn’t have to be so busy.
 

Bai Qingyan nodded in understanding and asked, “What about your father?” 

“He went back to his home.” Gu Yezhi reached out and squeezed her face. 

“Go to work!” She uttered, trying to squirm away. 

He checked the time, stood up in a fluid motion and headed toward his study.

During her period, Bai Qingyan had her energy consumed much quicker. By nine o’clock, she was already tired enough to take a bath and head straight to bed. 

When Gu Yezhi returned from his meeting, he found his little wife lying under the quilt obediently. Only half of her pretty face was exposed as she slept soundly. The sight filled his heart with tenderness and he felt his fatigue dissipate. 

After washing his body, he climbed on the bed and pulled her into his arms, kissing her on her bright forehead. She seemed to sense him, or perhaps she recognized his scent, because she burrowed further into his embrace. 

Gu Yezhi smiled and fell asleep contentedly with the love of his life in his arms.

On the next day, Gu Yezhi took Bai Qingyan to the back garden after their breakfast. 

The air in the early Saturday morning was very refreshing. The sunlight shone through the leaves of the trees, creating a pattern of freckles on the ground. 

“Yezhi, why are we here?” Bai Qingyan was puzzled, but once they walked past the garden and into a magnificent small house, she understood. 

She knew that this wasn’t a house, but a hidden pathway. Beyond that door lay a tunnel where, during her disabled years in her previous life, Gu Yezhi had taught her how to protect herself.
