Peerless Dad - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Prologue (2)
“She’s giving birth, birth!”
I was restless even as I hired beldame Childeok, a famous midwife from the neighboring village because Mira’s complexion turned yellow and she has been screaming in anguish for more than 20 hours.
Never in my life had I seen her be so miserable, I felt chagrined by her great pain.
“I think I’ll have no choice but to force it out. But in that case…”
Childeok could not finish what she said, but I could tell the answer without hearing it.
Is there even a choice to make? Of course, I had to save her no matter what.
We may have another child, but she was irreplaceable.
“No!”
Mira, struggling with the pain of childbirth, jumped up and shouted. She displayed a behavior she could never have shown before.
It wasn’t time to display a great maternal instinct… but she did.
“I’m going to give birth, no matter what!”
Hearing her determined words, as she struggled to breathe properly through the pain, I made the greatest mistake of my life.
“Okay. It’ll go as you say, so lie down. Lie down and relax. Breathe!”
“Promise me!”
“I promise, so please.”
Only then did she lie down again and groan in pain.
“F*ck! If only I could meet you in my death, Creator, I would tear you to pieces, chew you, and swallow you.”
I had no choice but to scream vulgar words that she would never use.
“It’s coming out, it’s coming out. New bride, push a little more!”
“Uhhnnghh!”
“It’s coming out, it’s coming out! It’s almost completely out!”
The memory of her cries at the moment.
“Euwahhh! Euwahh!”
The baby came out; the Creator may have been scared of my words.
“It’s a boy, a boy!”Childuk shouted loudly as she received the baby. “Good work, new bride. It’s a baby boy!”
“Uh…”
As soon as Childuk shouted in joy, Mira began to groan again.
Childuk’s eyes grew bigger again.
“Oh! It’s not just one.”
“What?”
“It’s twins, twins! Hurry up and go out to call two women. I’m short on hands.”
I ran like a fly at Childuk’s command, then grabbed the woman next door who was working in the field, and the woman who was working with her by the shoulder.
“Uh…!”
“What are you doing, Gajang?!” Mr. Heo, the husband of Mrs. Soon, shouted, but I couldn’t afford to answer back. When I ran with the two women, Mr. Heo and another unknown man followed me.
“I brought them!” I shouted, and Mr. Sun and the other woman, who were angry, hurried in as if they had realized the situation by seeing the state of the room.
“You bastard!”
Subsequently, Uncle Heo ran to me and punched me, but I was willing to
pay him any attention and closely watched what happened in the room.
“Ehwahh!”
The moment I heard the child crying again, Uncle Heo let go of his hand that grabbed me by the collar. Then he immediately patted me on the back and said, “Haha, congratulations, congratulations! I heard you’re expecting it today and tomorrow. Congratulations. I wish you’d told me something earlier.”
I went into the room with a grinning at the man who just punched me. I didn’t have time to be happy before because I was in a hurry, but I thought I could be happy to my heart’s content now.
“Oh, my! What is this? Another one?”
While Mrs. Soon and the other woman hugged each other, Childuk bowed down again.
“That’s why you’ve been suffering all day. How did you hold three of them in this body? You’re so stubborn.”
Childuk opened her mouth again upon delivering another baby.
“Three came out. Don’t let any outsiders come in, and make more hot water!”
As soon as they rushed to drive out Uncle Heo and the other man, the men went out of their own accord, probably having heard Childuk’s cry.
They began to boil the water, and carry it inside in pots.
Three babies were already in her arms by then. She was small, but the babies were much smaller, so it was possible.
“I have two sons and one daughter. Didn’t I do well?
When Mira spoke in a feeble voice, I felt my eyes burning as I looked at them. In an instant, I became the head of a household with four other souls.
“Would you like to hold them?”
“Uh… oh… Uhm…”
I burst into tears as soon as she finished her words.
I didn’t blink even when I got stabbed three times rescuing a colleague.
But…
I could understand neither then nor now why I cried so much even though I was extremely happy.
I held three children in my arms all at once, my face covered in tears and my nose running.
“Sorry.”
“What… what for?”
“…..”
An ominous feeling struck me. So I said hurriedly.
“Whatever it may be… You don’t have to tell me. You just… have to stay… next to me.”
“I’m sorry… really.”
I just nodded. What else do I need to say? She’s my woman who gave birth to three such pretty babies for me.
I could forgive her for whatever she did. Except for one thing.
“I’m sorry…. honey.”
Was it an illusion?
No, I saw it clearly. I saw with my own eyes something was getting out of her.
“Honey.”
“…..”
“Honey. Honey? Honey?”
That’s when I knew the feeling of my heart sinking.
“Beldame Childuk! Beldame Childuk!”
I searched for Beldame Childuk like a madman and blankly saw her hurry to look after Mira.
“…..”
And at the sight of the old lady looking at me through eyes filled with unspoken pity, a murderous impulse arose.
“Three of them were probably… I’m sorry.”
I almost dropped the babies I was holding. I barely gave strength to my arms, but my legs turned to jelly and I collapsed.
“AHHHHH!”
Childuk went out carefully, and only my family remained in the room.
Screams burst out from my throat, and tears and soot flooded out from my eyes and nose nonstop.
“YOU FUCKING BASTARD OF A CREATOR SON OF A B*TCH, YOUR RIPPED PIECES ARE NOT EVEN WORTH SERVING AS FOOD FOR PIGS.”
