Chapter 149: PDA (1)

It was afternoon when the two went downstairs. Lin Xin hadn’t come out for a stroll for a long time now, so she missed her old friend a bit. She asked Lin Xinyu to drive her to see the people from her company from long ago.

Lin Xinyu decided to skip work and keep Lin Xin company. Besides the times when he had to make a major decision, work was entrusted to the manager. With professional teams and Yu Feitian’s creativity, the company always seized the opportunity to capture the market. The 100 square meters company that Lin Xin left, in just a decade, already had its own building.

Yu Fei was still the slipper wearing otaku. Seeing Lin Xinyu coming over, he asked, “How come you’re so free today?”

“I came to take a look.”

Yu Fei glanced at Lin Xin, who was in the wheelchair, and said, “I’ll give you a big red packet when you get married.”

Lin Xinyu generously said, “No need. When I get married, I’ll give each of you a big red packet.”

Yu Fei was shocked. “Don’t waste all the money your sister left you!”

Yu Fei often stayed up late at night, he had dark circles under his eyes, staring into the void like a zombie on TV.

Lin Xin couldn’t help laughing at his words.

When Yu Fei saw Lin Xin’s smile, he was stunned for half a second.

This girl is really pretty. If I were to create a mobile game with her as the heroine, it would sell very well.

Thinking up to here, he quickly ran back to his office to note down his inspiration. Drawing and coding on the computer, he completed the initial concept in no time.

Some people don’t change, Lin Xin thought, looking at the darting figure.

“He’s the same as he was ten years ago,” she said with relief.

Lin Xinyu said, “Yes, he has a girlfriend now.”

Words that had nothing to do with their conversation came out of his mouth. Lin Xin was at a loss for words. After thinking for a moment, she finally understood.

Was Lin Xinyu afraid that she would like him? Haha, how could this be?

She didn’t want Lin Xinyu thinking astray. She had decided to turn a new leaf with their relationship and didn’t want any trivialities to mar their chance at happiness.

After he had pushed her into his office, Lin Xin directly said, “Why do you think I would like someone else? If I had liked him ten years ago, I wouldn’t have waited until now.”

Lin Xinyu did not speak, he would not have told her: Ten years ago you looked ordinary, ten years later you’re beautiful, and just based on your appearance there are a lot of people chasing after you, Wang Changding being one of them.

Lin Xin welcomed his silence and didn’t say anything more. After all, actions speak louder than words. She stood up slightly and suddenly kissed Lin Xinyu on the cheek.

Lin Xinyu stared blankly for a moment, and all the worry in his heart disappeared. He wanted to kiss her but resisted the urge and brought her out of the company. “Let’s do something we’ve never done before.”

There were things he couldn’t be sure of before, but now he could do with her what he had always wanted.

Lin Xinyu pushed her to the movies and bought two ordinary tickets. He carried her into the theater and they watched the whole movie hand in hand. It was a romantic movie but Lin Xinyu didn’t pay the silver screen any mind. He had been watching Lin Xin’s face the entire time. It seemed like he couldn’t see enough no matter how many months passed.

Halfway through the movie, Lin Xin fell asleep, he pulled her into his arms and put a blanket on her. At this moment, he felt a bit of regret. Her body wasn’t well, he shouldn’t have let her suffer like this, but he wasn’t willing to return just like that. He was still hesitating on whether to leave or not. The movie soon ended and Lin Xin slowly woke up. Seeing herself in Lin Xinyu’s arms, she shrank into his arms again, like a child held by its mother, unwilling to leave his embrace.

Lin Xinyu was delighted by her dependence. He tightly hugged her and carried her out of the movie hall like a groom carrying his bride, attracting the attention of passersby. Lin Xin was embarrassed. She quickly buried her head into Lin Xinyu’s chest and tugged on his clothes.

“Don’t carry me anymore, put me down. If you support me, I can walk.”

Lin Xinyu didn’t want to. He was afraid her body might not be able to handle it. In the end, she relented by letting him carry her on his back.

Lying on his back, Lin Xin noticed that his shoulders had gotten wider than before. He was strong and sturdy, emanating a sense of ease. She buried her head in his nape and closed her eyes, feeling the undulation.

He had carried her on his back only twice before: once for only two steps, and another time before she died. At that time, she had never thought about what would happen to Lin Xinyu upon her death. She felt that those who survived would live well. After all, life didn’t stop for anyone.

However, now when she thought about it again…  What if she died and left the world again?

The one face that came before her eyes, was that of the man she was resting on. How lonely he would be… her family would miss her no doubt, but Lin Xinyu, his love, and longing would be different from theirs.

At this moment, she admitted that unlike before, she was a little afraid of death. She didn’t dare to die.

As thoughts filled her heart, she rubbed her face against his neck and gently kissed his ear.

Lin Xinyu paused, his ears completely red. He couldn’t help but turn his head and kiss her. Then, he quickly turned his head, looking at the path ahead and walking very slow.

He enjoyed carrying her on his back, an extravagant dream he had long harbored. Now that he had finally realized it, he could walk the path like an ordinary man carrying his beloved on his back. He could give her a shoulder to lean on, lift her above his head, and show her a view she had never seen before… Tell her that he would always be there and that he wouldn’t feel that the world was dirty and terrible because of his cowardice.

There were many good people in the world, and he was unfortunate to have not met them. But he wasn’t remorseful about not meeting them. For him…

It’s enough, just meeting you alone.
