Chapter 14: Pre-Death (2)

“What’s the situation?”

Old Master Huo shook his head heavily and sighed.

Through the glass of the intensive care unit, Huo Suicheng looked inside. The doctors and nurses were crowded around the hospital bed; the ECG monitor was working hard; and an oppressive atmosphere hung inside and outside the whole ward.

Huo Suicheng stood outside, his fist clenched tightly.

He said, “Children suffer from many disasters and diseases. It is her life to survive, and it is also her life not to survive.”

Old Master Huo closed his eyes.

The clock on the wall went another half-circle, and the doctors in the ward calmed down after a commotion.

Huo Suicheng saw the line graph on the ECG smoothly extending forward. In the noisy crowd, he seemed to see the palm-sized child lying there quietly, without crying or making any sound.

So small and fragile that a fever could kill her.

The doctor pushed open the intensive care unit door and said with regret, “Master Huo, I’m sorry, we have done our best.”

Huo Suicheng remained silent. He didn’t feel anything when he heard this. He wasn’t sad either. It was only when he listened to the word “Sorry” that his heart stopped for an instant.

Just one second. It stopped for one very short second, but it still seized his emotions.

“I’ll go in and see her.”

The doctor made way in silence.

Huo Suicheng walked into the ICU. The ticking sound from the ECG monitor sounded irritating and harsh to the ears. The nurses were all withdrawing. The child was lying quietly on the sickbed, just like she fell asleep beside him last night.

He picked Huo Xiaoxiao up. Her body was hot, and the temperature did not go down even after her heart stopped.

She was still so small, not having any weight in his arms.

She hadn’t grown up yet, looked at this world, looked at her loved ones, looked at…

Huo Xiaoxiao opened her eyes and looked at Huo Suicheng.

“…” Instantly, Huo Suicheng raised his voice and shouted, “Doctor!”

Then things got out of hand.

The child, whose heartbeat had stopped, unexpectedly recovered after being hugged by his own father!

Not only that, but the body temperature also dropped bit by bit over time until it fell within the normal range of the human body.

Her physical condition was good, and each organ healthy.

Huo Xiaoxiao even fell asleep after sipping a bottle of milk.

The results of the examination indicated that nothing had happened.

“…” This was unscientific!

The doctor involved in the rescue was suspicious of her life.

Old Master Huo, who had waited in suspense all night, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Huo Suicheng, after witnessing his little girl’s life and life, was in a very complicated mood.

“Old Master Huo, in fact, there are many things in this world that cannot be explained by science. There are still many diseases that have yet not been completely cured by medicine. Little Miss Huo’s disease is strange, but fortunately, her health is more important than anything.”

Under Old Master Huo’s repeated questioning, the doctor almost said, “The most important thing in life is to breathe”.

Huo Suicheng did not say a word, asking nothing and saying nothing. His expression seemed to be indifferent.

Because he always had the illusion that he was being toyed.

And it didn’t seem like an illusion this time.

The group had rushed to the hospital and left again in a hurry.

Back at Huo’s mansion, Old Master Huo finally sat down and caught his breath.

“Master, it’s getting late. Go back to your room and rest. Little Miss is under our care.”

Even though he was old, he didn’t feel exhausted after traveling for most of the day.

“It’s okay. I’m not tired. I’ll go back to my room and rest later.”

Thinking of today, he smiled again.

“The fortune-teller said that my Huo family descendant was destined to have no future, what nonsense! My granddaughter will be able to grow up healthy after going through this disaster today!”

“I have told you not to believe those fortune-tellers. But you don’t listen and always take it to heart. Are you finally assured?”

“Don’t worry.”

Old Master Huo smiled and frowned, “But today was indeed quite strange. This child’s illness came and went in a flash…”

Steward Chen looked at Huo Suicheng with a smile. “If I remember correctly, Little Miss woke up after Young Master hugged her. This might be because she felt his concern, or it might be due to the affection between father and daughter.”

Old Master Huo thought for a while and nodded, finding it true.

“You’re right. Huo Suicheng, you should come home from work every day in the future. Accompany Xiaoxiao more.”

Huo Suicheng raised his eyes. “I forgot to tell you that after two days, I will go on a business trip.”

“Business trip? Where to?”
