Become Husband And Wife According To Pleasure - Chapter 36 - Coincidence (1)
Chapter 36: Coincidence (1)
It was just a little past four in the afternoon, and the sun hung obliquely in the sky. The winter sun felt somewhat warm, and it made her squint her eyes.
Su Qiuzi hadn’t basked in this kind of sun in a long time. The last time, she was still in the first semester of her sophomore year. Classes were full and after the first two lessons in the afternoon, they transferred from Building 3 to Building 1. On a winter’s afternoon, the school’s lawn trees stood tall with their shadows lengthened by the sun, and the ground was stained with withering leaves.
Once she started her junior year, Su Qiuzi started taking part-time jobs frequently. Busy making plans for her future graduation and guaranteeing a foothold in society, she rarely basked in such sunshine anymore. When she thought back to her school days, she had been a bit of a miserable person, but back then she was still a student and had no worries. Unlike now that she was already married and had to make a living and run around working all day.
The winter wind felt damp and cold, and Su Qiuzi’s throat was sore from breathing through the mask. She coughed and heard her phone ring.
Su Qiuzi took her phone out to look at it, removing her mask before answering. “Hello.”
On the other end of the phone, a very nice male voice was heard. “What’s wrong with your voice?”
“I caught a cold.” Su Qiuzi said simply and asked, “What is it?”
The guy responded, “Do you have time now? Come to the Korean restaurant next to the school, I have something to ask you. It’s about the College Christmas party.”
The call came from Xu Shao, who was in the same major as Su Qiuzi but in a different class. Xu Shao and Lin Qing were old friends, they had known each other since high school, so he and Su Qiuzi got along quite well.
Xu Shao was a popular figure in the campus, and he was usually in charge of large and small school events. He joined the campus oratory club as a freshman, won first prize in the Qi Yue Festival as a sophomore, and became an instant celebrity. He was recruited by Jing City TV as an anchor just after his senior year.
He participated in competitions and events throughout the year and most of the part-time jobs he was introduced to by his professors after his junior year went to Su Qiuzi.
Even though he did it for Lin Qing’s sake, Su Qiuzi was still grateful to him. That’s why if Xu Shao asked her to help, she would say yes if there was nothing important to do.
The heater at the restaurant was warm enough, and Su Qiuzi was more comfortable, so she took a sip of the korean barley tea and asked Xu Shao, “What do you want me to do for the Christmas party?”
Xu Shao had a nice voice and good looks, wearing glasses and a bookish face. Hearing Su Qiuzi ask, Xu Shao replied, ”Oh, that’s right. It turns out that the host of the Christmas party had me and Lai Jia being appointed. But Lai Jia has to go to the TV station to train in those days, so I was wondering if you have time to salvage the situation?”
The Christmas party was Saturday night, and Su Qiuzi had a part-time job at the pottery house, so she could just take the time off. Xu Shao had helped her so many times, such a favor she would not fail to help even if he brought it up, Su Qiuzi nodded and said, “Okay.”
Hearing her consent, Xu Shao smiled again and said, “Then you should stay until later. I have arranged for a few people in charge of the party to come over today, let’s set a time for rehearsal.”
That was fine for her so Su Qiuzi agreed. While waiting, she got up and went to the bathroom. Troubled by the sore throat today, she had to drink a lot of water.
While going to the bathroom, Su Qiuzi received a call from He Yu. There was a clicking sound on the end of the phone, accompanied by He Yu’s low voice. “Are you feeling better today?”
He Yu was inquiring about her health, but Su Qiuzi heard how his voice was slightly hoarse and worried about him first. But He Yu’s physique was clearly stronger than hers, and there seemed to be no discomfort in his tone.
He Yu asked her where she was now, and Su Qiuzi said she was at the Korean restaurant near the school and wanted to discuss things with her classmates. After the discussions, she would go to the hospital to have the IV drip infusion, so she would come home a little later. He Yu tried to respond, but someone on the other side seemed to be calling him. Su Qiuzi was afraid to interrupt his work, did not wait for him to reply and hurriedly hung up the phone.
Coming out of the bathroom, Su Qiuzi returned to the place where she and Xu Shao had just sat. Originally there were only two of them there, but now there were a few more people, both men and women, with good looks. These were the people in charge of the Christmas party, under the College Student Art Club, and counted as her schoolmates and sisters.
Su Qiuzi approached the table and Xu Shao introduced her with a smile, with everyone greeting her in a friendly manner. After discussing the matter for ten minutes or so, she heard the girl next to her wave her hand at the door and said, “Zhou Yang, here.”
