Chapter 9 – Female Lead Halo

Although Zhao Pianpian had money, she was not the type to spend it recklessly. Although the middle-aged women and old ladies in the slums loved to gossip, they weren’t bad people. Before the baby was born, they sent over the clothes that their children used to wear.

Clothes previously worn by children were actually better for newborns since the fabric had become softer after washing. In the beginning, Zhao Pianpian had not produced breast milk yet, but the doctor advised her to let the baby suck on.

Zhao Pianpian frowned in pain.

Fortunately, the baby was able to drink his mother’s precious milk.

Because the recovery for natural labor was quick, Zhao Pianpian was discharged from the hospital a few days later. She laid in bed at night watching her baby in deep sleep. She had no complaints about the unfairness of her fate. On the contrary, she was grateful beyond words. Grandma Luo wasn’t related to her in any way, yet she was so considerate of her. Luo Bei, too; she was so scared she would get postpartum depression that she came after work every day to chat with her and help her take care of the baby.

Clearly, they were only landlord and tenant, but they were closer than actual relatives.

Everyone had love and affection in them. Luo Bei rushed home straight after work to Room 202. When she was eating lunch with her colleagues, she passed a baby store. She couldn’t hold back and bought a new set of clothes for the baby.

She had been in contact with the little baby every day for the whole month. Although she felt exhausted sometimes, she had developed affection for the baby after interacting with him for an entire month.

It was really difficult for an unmarried mother to raise a child alone. The novel only described it briefly in the plot, but when Luo Bei tried assisting Zhao Pianpian, she could really feel how strong the resolve of this outwardly weak woman was.

Luo Bei thought about it. If it were her, she would have absolutely no courage to take on the responsibility of giving birth and taking care of a child.

Maybe Zhao Pianpian really loved Lei Yuhao.

“Babies grow really fast. You buy him clothes so often, yet he won’t even be able to wear them once or twice.” Zhao Pianpian changed the baby’s diaper skillfully.

Luo Bei replied indifferently, “It’s okay. If he doesn’t manage to wear it, just give it to others later.”

“You don’t have to waste your money either.” Zhao Pianpian started nagging, “Your salary is only a couple thousand a month now. Why don’t you buy some clothes for yourself instead of buying clothes for the baby? Dress pretty and find a boyfriend, isn’t that a good idea?”

Since their age gap wasn’t that big, Zhao Pianpian now automatically treated Luo Bei as a little sister. And naturally, she didn’t call Grandma Luo like before either, rather she called her ‘Grandma’. It was obvious that the Luo grandmother-granddaughter pair held the same position in her heart as her relatives.

Luo Bei felt a headache after hearing this, “I’ve never thought about this.”

Zhao Pianpian looked at her, “How can you not think about this? You are at the right age, isn’t it the right time to start dating?”

“I haven’t met the right one.” Luo Bei thought about it and said, “And all I can think of now is to pay off our debt and in the future I’ll have to work hard and save up the income from rent to buy a small house in the city. I’ll start finding love when all of that is over with.”

Zhao Pianpian nodded thoughtfully, then said, “Do you really want to buy a house?”

Luo Bei understood Zhao Pianpian’s temperament. She trusted others easily. It was just that she encountered her and her grandma. She never thought of using her even if with the knowledge Zhao Pianpian was rich. But what if Zhao Pianpian encountered other people? With such an unguarded mentality, she would probably be scammed off her riches before her child returned to the Lei family.

In other words, it was the female lead halo.
