Chapter 29 – Consensus

Luo Bei endured the spicy taste and began to nibble on the duck bones. As she nibbled, she said, “Don’t take it to heart, I already know this. But thanks to you, Zhan Qi finally set his thoughts straight, otherwise I was getting scared as the more prolonged it gets, the more awkward it will be for both families. As for what he said, don’t take it seriously. I’ll find some time to explain things to him next time. We’re just platonic friends. His misunderstanding is definitely because the people here are bored and love to gossip. This is practically holding me back from finding a boyfriend…”

She knew in her heart that the reason why Jiang Sihan called her out to say these things might be because he was afraid she might misunderstand so he felt the need to explain things to her.

After listening to Luo Bei’s words, Jiang Sihan was relieved.

He could tell that Luo Bei wasn’t interested in him.

It was great that she wasn’t. He thought Luo Bei was a decent young lady, she was pretty and kind. Her temperament wasn’t too bad, either. He didn’t understand why Zhan Qi would feel inferior to him, he was nothing compared to Zhan Qi. At least the other guy could earn money, while he was blindly chasing his dreams, unsure of whether he could put food on the table. Even if he wanted to start dating, it would at least be when he could afford to take care of a second person.

The two did not make it too clear, but both of them reached a consensus.

They weren’t interested in each other. It was good to purely be friends. As for taking that friendship to the next level… let’s forget about it.

***

No one can stop the spread of the fire that was rumors. Fortunately, Luo Bei and Jiang Sihan were carefree people. Early the next morning, Jiang Sihan sorted out the trash in the corridors as usual. Luo Bei continued inviting him over to eat breakfast as before. Their relationship maintained its peaceful harmony.

Today was a Saturday. Luo Bei didn’t have to go to work so she cleaned up the house with Grandma while waiting for someone to come inspect the property.

It had been several months since they stopped Zhao Pianpian’s confinement plan. She brought the child over to eat every day. Jiang Sihan, too. Grandma Luo loved that her home was lively; Luo Bei didn’t come back from work for lunch on weekdays usually, she felt lonely all alone.

Both Zhao Pianpian and Jiang Sihan had always been fans of Grandma Luo’s craftsmanship.

To be honest, Luo Bei knew that Jiang Sihan had potential to be the main love interest or the supporting male since he would be such a Sue in the future. He was also handsome and he had good character.

Zhao Pianpian was the female lead of a pregnant runaway romance novel, Jiang Sihan was the male lead in a seinen, slice-of-life, career novel. These were obviously two different novels, how could these two leads simultaneously be around her?

What was wrong with this world?

Luo Bei couldn’t figure it out and stopped thinking because she got lazy.

Before they had finished eating, Grandma Luo’s phone rang. It was the person coming to inspect calling, saying they were downstairs.

Without another word, Jiang Sihan put down his bowl and chopsticks and went downstairs to let them in.

The guest was a woman in her twenties. She dragged along a suitcase, a little boy by her side. The little boy looked to be around four or five years old.

Jiang Sihan had an outstanding appearance. The woman had been waiting impatiently at first, but after seeing him, her expression softened a lot, “Please help me with the luggage. I think it’s on the third floor? Does this place not have an elevator?”

She was a woman. It would be very difficult to carry a suitcase up three flights of stairs without an elevator so Jiang Sihan helped her. He didn’t like talking in the first place and he wasn’t the landlord either, so he kept silent.
