Chapter 9: I Always Remember

Shen Wanying really couldn’t remember it. After all, it was something that happened seven years ago, when she was only ten.

If she thought about it carefully, she still had some impression left about Huo Cheng. Despite that, she couldn’t remember what they did at that time. Jiang Yu said they also took a photo together, which was found in the photos album.

Shen Wanying was lying on the bed while looking at the photos she had gotten from Jiang Yu.

The background of the photo was her garden. She wore a little princess skirt and Huo Cheng stood in front of the blooming rose vine. Both of them were smiling. Shen Wanying wiped little Huo Cheng’s face gently with her thumb. She didn’t see it wrong. He was actually smiling, though not obviously.

It turned out that Huo Cheng would also smile in his childhood.

Shen Wanying hooked her lips. She put the photo aside, turned off the light, and went to sleep.

On Monday, she got to the classroom 15 minutes earlier to do some self-study. Huo Cheng had just arrived. He was standing in front of his desk and taking books out of his bag.

When Shen Wanying saw him, she subconsciously gave him a blank stare. She felt as if she had become closer and knew Huo Cheng better after knowing that they knew each other when they were young. So, she went to her seat and greeted Huo Cheng with a smile, “Good morning, Huo Cheng.”

Huo Cheng put down his book and looked up at her, “Good morning.”

Shen Wanying smiled again. After a moment of consideration, she asked, “I don’t know if you remember, Huo Cheng, of how we met once when we were still children?”

Huo Cheng was slightly surprised by Shen Wanying’s question out of the blue. He thought Shen Wanying had long forgotten this. In his last life, it was because of their marriage that Shen Wanying remembered about this.

Shen Wanying saw that Huo Cheng didn’t speak and looked surprised. She thought Huo Cheng didn’t remember, so she smiled awkwardly: “Haha, it’s a bit abrupt. After all, it’s been so long. It’s normal if you can’t remember it.”

“I remember.” Huo Cheng stared at her. “I always remember,” he said with a serious face while looking at her.

This time Shen Wanying was the one surprised. She froze for a while, then said with a smile: “If you remember, then why didn’t you tell me?”

Huo Cheng lowered his eyes, “I thought you forgot.”

“Haha, I really don’t remember very well.” Shen Wanying laughed embarrassedly. “But my parents remember very well. When my mother heard that the newly transferred student was called Huo Cheng, she immediately thought of you. Didn’t you go abroad with Uncle Huo? Is Uncle Huo back?”

Huo Cheng: “No. I came back alone.”

Shen Wanying: “So where do you live?”

Huo Cheng: “My grandfather’s house.”

“Oh.” Shen Wanying nodded thoughtfully. She put down her school bag and took out the picture she put in it this morning. “My mother found this photo we took. Do you want to see it?”

Huo Cheng looked at the photo in her hand. It was a photo which they took at that time. He also had one.

Shen Wanying pointed to the little Huo Cheng in the picture and smiled, “Look! You were pretty cute, laughing like this when you were a child.”

“…” Huo Cheng was silent for a while before saying, “Yours looks cuter.”

“Haha.” Shen Wanying embarrassedly laughed once again. All of a sudden, there were many students from other classes gathering outside the classroom. Some of them were at the classroom’s door, some of them were peeking from the window, but all of them were looking towards her and Huo Cheng.

“What’s the matter?” Shen Wanying asked, vaguely hearing them mention her and Huo Cheng’s names. “AH, I know! These students must have come to see you.”

Huo Cheng frowned, “Didn’t they visit last week too?”

On Friday, when the examination’s result was announced, a lot of people came to the classroom to see Huo Cheng. He thought that after a weekend, the enthusiasm of these people would subside. Unexpectedly, people had already gathered around since early in the morning.

Shen Wanying looked outside and said, “This should be the other wave of students. You don’t know, but Ji Yao has always been the first in our grade and never lost his rank. This time you took over his throne, you overthrew him. A lot of people must be curious about you and so they came to look.”

Huo Cheng listened to Shen Wanying’s words but he still frowned a little. He didn’t like being surrounded like this. Seeing how Huo Cheng was still frowning, Shen Wanying realized he was not very happy. She thought that she should make the onlookers go away. At this moment, Ji Yao walked in with his schoolbag.

Ji Yao: “Hey, what are you all crowding in here for? I’m about to begin self-studying now.”

Ji Yao’s tone was a bit impatient. When the students saw him coming, they spontaneously gave him the way. Other students cheered him on when he passed so that he wouldn’t be discouraged.

Shen Wanying couldn’t help but inwardly complain. How many of them took the exam? They all came here just to prevent a second-grade student from being discouraged.

However, looking at Ji Yao’s appearance, it looked like he had been a bit taken aback. Although he usually slept through the classes, he was always the first to come to the classroom. Today, the bell was almost ringing, but he was late.

Huo Cheng noticed that Shen Wanying was watching Ji Yao. The frown in his face became deeper, his brows wrinkled even more tightly. He looked at Ji Yao and his eyes happened to meet with the other boy’s gaze.

Ji Yao was looking at him while walking to his desk. Then, he put his bag on the desk and sat down on his seat. Shen Wanying didn’t chat with Huo Cheng anymore. She went to her seat and sat down.
