The Lady’s Facade was Ruined - Chapter 6 - All Experts Always Have a Bad Temper (2)
Chapter 6: All Experts Always Have a Bad Temper (2)
Archery was a quiet sport, but the action range of drawing bow is still very large. The shirt on Huo Cheng’s body became tight on him, outlining the muscle because of his movement.
Huo Cheng should be about the same age as her, only seventeen or eighteen years old. Yet, this young man had such a great amount of power within himself.
At that moment, Shen Wanying had her attention fixed on Huo Cheng’s body. She was staring absent-mindedly when Huo Cheng released the arrow in his hand. The arrow which left the bowstring flew swiftly, unstoppable. Tian Yu subconsciously stretched his neck and looked at Huo Cheng’s arrow, which hit the bull’s eye.
What happened left everyone in silence; the room was quiet for a second. Huo Cheng’s face didn’t show even a tiny bit of expression while Shen Wanying was caught in surprise. Tian Yu coughed and took Huo Cheng’s bow down and gave him the competitive compound bow, “You, try again with this and shoot the target.”
Huo Cheng adjusted the bow in his hand and posed to shoot the arrow out for the second time, ten rings.
Tian Yu: “…”
Although this target was much simpler than the regular competition, Huo Cheng’s level was already a master among amateur high school students. Tian Yu’s attitude towards Huo Cheng changed immediately. He looked at him with a smile, “Handsome boy, your name is Huo Cheng, right? If I let you join our archery club, would you like to represent our club in the competition?”
Huo Cheng: “I don’t want to.”
“…” Tian Yu didn’t expect that the transfer student would refuse his offer. So, then he became angry again. “Then I don’t want you to join our club!”
Shen Wanying smiled in embarrassment, but she didn’t forget to show her courtesy. She whispered to Tian Yu, “President, an expert always has a temper, but you can’t be inflexible. We only have little time before the next game, why don’t you let him join first, then slowly persuade him again?”
After he heard what Shen Wanying had said, Tian Yu’s eye brightened. He felt that Shen Wanying made a quite reasonable point, “You are truly our honorable Lady Shen. Indeed, this humble servant’s contemptuous thought has been enlightened with your words.”
When he looked at Huo Cheng again, Tian Yu was smiling, “Our Hero Huo is a newcomer, right? In order to celebrate your transfer and entrance to our archery club, I invite you to have a meal!”
The school set a rule that students couldn’t leave school at noon, so it was only natural for students to eat in the canteen. The student’s canteen at the first private school in City A was divided into three floors. The first and the second floors sold ordinary meals, while the third floor was more like a restaurant. The dishes were à la carte; there were Chinese and Western dishes. The price was also relatively expensive.
Most of the students usually ate on the first and second floors. It wasn’t because the third floor’s foods were too expensive, but it was because the set menu on the first and second floors were not only delicious but also convenient enough.
Tian Yu invited Huo Cheng to a meal. Certainly, they would eat the type of food sold on the third-floor canteen, in order to show his integrity.
Considering that the three of them eating Western food together was too strange, Tian Yu chose Chinese food. Huo Cheng, as the main object of flattery, was given the menu by Tian Yu.
“Mapo tofu, sweet and sour ribs, boiled beef, tomato and egg soup.” After Huo Cheng ordered, he returned the menu to the canteen staff. Shen Wanying looked at Huo Cheng, somewhat surprised. Huo Cheng noticed the awe in Shen Wanying’s look and asked her, “What’s the matter?”
Shen Wanying shook her head and said, “All the food you ordered is my favorite.”
Huo Cheng froze for a moment before answering with a dull voice, “M-hm.”
Tian Yu laughed and said, “It seems that both of you have similar tastes. Also, both of you are worthy of being the general in the archery club. Next time please consider giving the competition a go, okay?”
Huo Cheng: “Won’t go.”
Tian Yu: “…” Wasn’t there a saying that taking a person’s hand was short and eating a person’s mouth was soft?1 [javascript:void(0)]1 A saying of “taking a person’s hand is short and eating a person’s mouth is soft” (拿人手短吃人嘴软) was originated from Chinese idioms “soft-mouthed” and “short-handed”. Soft-mouthed: Can’t speak straight and confidently. Short-handedness: Has no principle in doing things. Both idioms combined mean that you can’t take (eat) someone’s advice casually because if it goes wrong, you only have yourself to blame; you don’t have any right to talk unreasonably or argue about principles in front of them.
What’s wrong with this handsome boy named Huo?
During the meal, Tian Yu made a few remarks about the competition again, but he was mercilessly rejected by Huo Cheng. Nevertheless, the meal didn’t result in nothing. At least, he could see that Huo Cheng’s attitude towards Shen Wanying was much better than towards him!
Therefore, after eating, Tian Yu stealthily pulled Shen Wanying, “My Lady, you and Huo Cheng are classmates. Please help me persuade him to participate in the competition. I believe he will listen to you.”
“… You think too much.” Shen Wanying blushed at what Tian Yu said.
Huo Cheng, who was currently walking in the front; stopped and looked back at them. Tian Yu and Shen Wanying reflexively distanced each other.
He didn’t know why but strangely he couldn’t help but make such a reflex!
Shen Wanying went forward, looking at Huo Cheng, then said, “Huo Cheng, I’ll help you to get familiar with the campus, and then you can take an early break. You need to take the exam tomorrow and keep up the spirit to review in the afternoon.
“Ok.”
“By the way, did you rent a bed at school?”
“Rented.”
“Then you can go back to the dormitory to rest later. Don’t be late for the afternoon class.”
“M-hm.”
Tian Yu followed: “…” It seemed like… There was nothing wrong with him.
In the afternoon, as expected the teacher asked everyone to review the subject themselves. After the school ended, Shen Wanying packed her bag and walked towards the school gate. The car to pick her up stopped outside the school gate. When the driver saw Shen Wanying come, he quickly got out of the car to help her open the car’s door, then carefully protected the Little Lady’s head when she was sitting in.
Student A: “Ah ah ah, our Lady is really enviable! I also want a driver to serve me like that!”
Student B: “Doesn’t your mother come to pick you up today? You can ask your mother about it.”
Student A: “… No, no need to. It’s enough for me to see our Lady.”
Huo Cheng, among the students who conversed with each other, watched Shen Wanying’s car slowly drive away from the school gate.
“Master Huo Cheng, our car is parked here.” The driver sent by the Huo family found Huo Cheng among the students. He came to Huo Cheng and called him. Huo Cheng withdrew his sight from Shen Wanying’s car and followed the driver to his car.
When Huo Tingxiao took Huo Cheng abroad, he didn’t sell their real estate in China. Huo Cheng wanted to live in his own home, but in Huo Tingxiao’s eyes, he was still a minor, so Huo Cheng was arranged to live with his grandfather, Huo Qiming’s home.
After he picked up Huo Cheng, the driver drove back, directly to Huo’s family house. In addition to Huo Qiming, Huo Cheng’s aunt and her family also lived there.
“Pa, do you know why Huo Cheng suddenly wanted to come back?”
Huo Qiming answered impatiently, “Do I have to tell you? Even Huo Tingxiao, his father, doesn’t know. How come I know?”
“Don’t you think it’s strange?”
“Just take care of your own business well. Stop asking about other people’s business.”
“You said that Huo Cheng is my nephew. Is he other people?” Huo Cheng’s aunt raised her eyebrows and asked, “Do you think he came because he misses Fang Ke?”
Huo Qiming’s face changed as soon as he heard that. Yet, when he was about to say something, he saw Huo Cheng was coming from the front door. The conversation in the living room stopped abruptly. Huo Qiming looked at Huo Cheng and smiled, “Huo Cheng, are you back from school? Is it still customary to go to school on the first day on this age?”
Huo Cheng nodded innocently, as if he didn’t hear the conversation before him, “Grandpa, I’ll go upstairs and put my school bag first.”
“Go ahead. I’ll send someone up to call you for dinner later.”
“M-hm.”
Huo Qiming watched him go upstairs then scolded Huo Yanni beside him, “I said don’t mention that name again. I don’t know if Huo Cheng heard that just now.”
Although Huo Yanni felt a little empty in her heart, she was still reluctant to soften her mouth, “I just mentioned her name and didn’t say anything else. Oh, is she Voldemort, we can’t even say the name?”
“I don’t feel like talking to you anymore,” with that Huo Qiming turned his back and went upstairs.
