Fang Yicheng had also heard the scream just now. He looked towards the direction where the sound had originated from and said to Wang Tingting and Qiu Ziqing, “You two stay in the hotel lobby. I’ll go take a look.”

The two girls were still frightened and not sure what to do. Seeing Fang Yichang leave, they hurriedly returned to the hotel.

Inside her room, Shen Wanying, who was watching the drama, raised her head and glanced out of the window, “Zhao Yimeng, did you hear that sound?”

Zhao Yimeng was immersed in the plot and answered perfunctorily, “What sound?”

“Like someone screaming?”

Zhao Yimeng replied, “You must have heard wrong. Probably, it’s the sound coming from the TV.”

“Really?” Shen Wanying also thought that she had misheard. But, as she was about to pull her attention back to watching the show, the sound of a loud alarm echoed through the hotel.

Now Zhao Yimeng also heard it. She was so scared that she spilled the snacks in her hand, “What’s happening? Is there a fire?”

“I don’t know, but it seems like a fire alarm. Let’s go out first.” Shen Wanying stood up, still looking calm.

Zhao Yimeng nodded heavily and said, “Okay!”

She helped support Shen Wanying as they joined the other students that had gathered in the corridor. Everyone seemed to be very confused.

The fire alarm was still ringing non-stop. Amidst the state of confusion, a student shouted to everyone to not take the elevator.

Originally, they were on the third floor of the hotel. It couldn’t be regarded as high, but Shen Wanying’s foot was injured, which was another matter.

Zhao Yimeng supported Shen Wanying and walked very slowly. The continuous sound of the alarm was really distressing. Shen Wanying let go of Zhao Yimeng and spoke seriously to her, “You should go down first.”

“How can I do that?!” Zhao Yimeng was also anxious. She didn’t know where the fire was, let alone what the current situation was. Nevertheless, if she left Shen Wanying and ran away by herself, she would be uneasy, “This way, you should lean on the wall and walk slowly to the stairs. I will find the teacher to come pick you up.”

She couldn’t hold Shen Wanying alone, but an adult could. The teachers were downstairs and right now they must be organizing the evacuation of the students.

Shen Wanying nodded and said, “Okay, then you should be careful.”

“I know. You should be careful too. Just hold on, I’ll be back soon.” Zhao Yimeng said, quickly running towards the emergency stairs. Just as she reached the stairs, she full on face-first bumped into someone. She raised her head and saw that it was Huo Cheng.

The boys stayed on the first and second floors. He’d specially come up to the third floor in order to find Shen Wanying.

When Zhao Yimeng saw him, it was like seeing a savior, “Huo Cheng, quick, follow me to look for the Lady!”

She dragged Huo Cheng and ran back.

Shen Wanying saw them coming from a distance. Her eyes revealed a hint of surprise, “Didn’t you say you’re going to find the teacher? Why did you bring Huo Cheng here?”

“He came up by himself! The brave hero who isn’t afraid of danger!”

Shen Wanying was silent for a while. Suddenly, she felt her feet lift off the ground. Huo Cheng had picked her up easily. “Let’s go out. Save the talk for later.”

Despite this life and death moment, Zhao Yimeng, who was watching from the sidelines couldn’t help but feel her girlish heart overflowing.

This was even more true for Shen Wanying, who was being carried in princess style by Huo Cheng. Even though she knew better to not let her imagination run wild because it was inappropriate on this occasion, she still couldn’t control her beating heart.

Huo Cheng was carrying Shen Wanying to the second floor in his arms when they were spotted by the teacher, who immediately rushed over. He only said that there were students from the top floor who hadn’t been evacuated.

The teacher then rushed to the third floor. Huo Cheng continued to hold Shen Wanying close and walked to the courtyard outside the hotel before putting her down.

Many students were gathered in the yard and everyone was discussing the fire alarm just now. They went all the way out to the yard and didn’t see a fire anywhere. They didn’t see any smoke puffing out somewhere at the moment, which was somewhat really strange.

“Did someone touch the fire alarm by mistake?” Shen Wanying asked.

“It’s possible.” Huo Cheng was still holding Shen Wanying’s arm, fearing that someone would accidentally bump into her in this crowd of people, “Let’s wait here first. Did you get hurt anywhere?”

“No.” Shen Wanying shook her head then she heard someone calling her.

“My Lady! Have you seen Brother Chang?” Hong Hong roared and impatiently ran towards Shen Wanying. Huo Cheng raised his hand and stopped him. Hong Hong didn’t have the time to bother about this at this moment. He just kept talking to Shen Wanying, “I can’t get in touch with Brother Chang!”

Shen Wanying said, “Weren’t you together with him?”

“No, he went out for something tonight.” Hong Hong didn’t tell her that Fang Yichang had gone out to find Wang Tingting and Qiu Ziqing, “I think when he heard the alarm, he must have gone upstairs to find you.”

“We didn’t meet him all the way down.”

Hong Hong frowned. He was worried about what would happen to Fang Yichang. When he saw Wang Tingting and Qiu Ziqing in the crowd, he immediately stopped them, “Where is Fang Yichang?”

Wang Tingting seemed to be frightened by the fire as her complexion was a little pale, “Just a moment ago, we heard someone screaming outside, and Fang Yichang went over to take a look.”

“Where?”

“It seems to be coming from the other side of the hotel.” Wang Tingting pointed her finger to the west side of the hotel.

Zhao Yimeng said, “Could it be that haunted room?”

Hong Hong was taken aback, “A haunted room?”

“Yeah, it’s the western-most room on the first floor, I heard it from my senior sister.”

After Hong Hong listened to her, he immediately turned and ran towards the hotel in the direction she’d pointed at. Huo Cheng frowned and said to Shen Wanying, “I will follow after him, you stay here, don’t go anywhere.”

Shen Wanying nodded, “Okay, you should pay attention to your safety.”

“I know.”

Because the fire situation was still unclear, Huo Cheng called upon Hong Hong outside the hotel to go around. As soon as they walked outside the window of the westernmost room, the fire alarm stopped.

The light in the room was on. Through the window, Huo Cheng saw an oil painting hanging on the wall in the room.

On the painting was the orange tree garden where he carried out Shen Wanying on his back today.

He practically could tell at a glance. This painting was his mother’s style.

He took two more steps forward and saw the inscription on the down right corner clearly.

Year 2X06, Fang Ke.

Huo Cheng looked stumped for words.

2X06 was the year when his mother died.
