The students in the kitchen were doing a great job in preparing the meal, especially Fang Yichang, who was skillfully holding the big wok as if he had been a cook for seventeen years. Wang Tingting saw that Shen Wanying’s cell phone rang, and the caller showed Huo Cheng. She thought for a while, before finally picking up the call to answer, “Hello.”

Huo Cheng heard her voice and went silent for a second before asking, “Who are you?”

Wang Tingting panicked at his response. She tried to calm down and answered Huo Cheng, “This is Wang Tingting. I just went to pick up fruits with Shen Wanying.”

“Where is Shen Wanying?”

“She’s still in the orchard field. I’m taking the fruits we picked up back first. Her mobile phone was in the fruit basket.”

After she explained, Huo Cheng didn’t say anything else and hung up the phone.

Deep in the orchard field, as Shen Wanying turned to have Wang Tingting catch the oranges she’d picked, she quickly realized that Wang Tingting was missing. She looked around suspiciously trying to spot her, but in a moment of distraction, she slipped off the ladder.

She hadn’t climbed too high up and managed to react quickly, so she was able to get away without being seriously injured as she fell to the ground, but ended up twisting her right foot in the process. She subconsciously held the oranges that she had just picked in her arms. Afterward, she put the oranges into the fruit basket on the side and sat down against the tree.

Her twisted ankle hurt a bit, but she endured it as she could still walk back. The problem now was that she didn’t know which direction to go.

She had seen the sign in the orchard field when she came, but now she didn’t know where that sign was. At this time, there were no patrols in the orchard field, and her mobile phone was taken away by Wang Tingting…

Thinking of this, Shen Wanying’s heart started to fill with doubt. Wang Tingting had asked her to come out to pick the fruit together but she couldn’t say for sure that it was the real intention she had from the beginning. She also didn’t want to speculate if the other student had malicious intentions, but with her current situation, it was the most reasonable guess.

She and Wang Tingting had no relationship such as friendship, let alone celebrating the holidays. Wang Tingting had most likely done this because of her good friend Qiu Ziqing.

Qiu Ziqing was in the kitchen today. Shen Wanying had seen it.

It didn’t make much sense to think too much into this now. Let’s just find a way back as soon as possible. Shen Wanying firmly decided as she supported herself against the tree to stand up.

Huocheng shortly arrived at the orchard and looked around to try to spot Shen Wanying, but all he could see as he glanced about were large patches of green dotted with orange. He didn’t know where Shen Wanying was, so he could only call her name while looking for her, “Shen Wanying—”

After searching around and calling out her name for a while but never getting a response, Huo Cheng’s heart became more and more anxious, “Shen Wanying——! Ah Wan——”

Shen Wanying raised her head slightly and looked ahead in the direction of the sound. She seemed to hear Huo Cheng calling her.

“Ah Wan——!”

This time, Shen Wanying was sure that she didn’t hear it wrong. She yelled back in the direction where the voice came from, “Huo Cheng, is that you?”

The voice on the other side stopped, and Shen Wanying called out again, “Huo Cheng?”

After that, she saw the figure of the boy emerge from the fruit garden, running towards her in a patch of sunshine.

“Huo Cheng, why are you here?” Shen Wanying looked at him rather surprised.

Huo Cheng didn’t answer her question, but first looked at her from head to toe, “Your foot is injured?”

“Well, I twisted it a bit, but it’s not serious.”

“Let me see.” Huo Cheng helped Shen Wanying to sit down and inspected her ankle. Shen Wanying’s ankle was a little swollen, but it shouldn’t hurt her joints. After examining her ankle injury, he asked her again, “Did you hurt your back?”

Huo Cheng looked at her, turned his back, and squatted down in front of her, “Get on, I’ll carry you.”
