The Lady’s Facade was Ruined - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Husband’s Interrogation (2)
Shen Wanying felt her heartbeat quicken again. She and Huo Cheng knew each other when they were young, and now they were classmates and participated in the archery club together. And now he was here waiting for her to go home together.
Why did I react extremely??
“Alright, let’s go.” Shen Wanying smiled calmly, unable to see how intensely chaotic the thoughts floating around her head were at the moment.
Since today was Huo Cheng’s first day participating in club activities, Shen Wanying focused on the topic as they walked and occasionally inserted a few weekend plans. As they arrived at the school gate, Huo Cheng’s gaze swept around, but he didn’t see the usual car that came to pick up Shen Wanying. “Why hasn’t your driver come to pick you up today?”
Shen Wanying was a little surprised, “Do you recognize my car?”
The car that the family sent to pick her up at school was a low-profile car mixed amongst a heap of luxury cars that arrived at the private school. It was definitely not conspicuous to stand out in any way.
“I remember the license plate.” Huo Cheng said. After he finished saying that, afraid Shen Wanying would misunderstand, he added, “I have a good memory. I can remember it after reading it once.”
“Oh…” Shen Wanying nodded, then inwardly thought, was this how he squeezed Ji Yao out of the number one position? “I have something to do today, that’s why I didn’t ask the driver to pick me up.”
Huo Cheng glanced in a direction not far away and said to Shen Wanying, “My car is parked not too far from here. Where are you going? I’ll take you there.”
“No need.” Shen Wanying smiled and rejected Huo Cheng’s kindness. “I can go by myself.”
Huo Cheng unconsciously knitted his brows, “Is it safe for you to go by yourself?”
“It’s safe. I’m just going to meet my friend. We made an appointment at a nearby place so I’m just going to walk over.”
Huo Cheng still had his brows kit together slightly, “Then how will you go home at night? Is anyone going to pick you up?”
“We won’t stay for long. I’ll be done before it’s evening and take a taxi home by myself later.” Shen Wanying attempted to persuade. Nevertheless, the more Shen Wanying spoke, the more she felt something was wrong. Why did I explain so much to Huo Cheng? It was as if she were a wife being interrogated by her husband.
“Then I’m going first.” Shen Wanying was afraid that Huo Cheng would continue asking her questions and quickly slipped away. Speaking of which, it was too strange. Usually, it was hard to catch Huo Cheng speaking even a few words. Why did he ask so many questions just now?
Huo Cheng looked at her back as she walked and stood in place for a while before he went to get his own car.
Shen Wanying hadn’t told him the whole truth just now, so what was she planning on doing? She’d even deliberately told the driver not to come.
He tried to think back to the memories of his previous life. He couldn’t think of any clues for the time being, but she shouldn’t be in any danger, otherwise he would’ve known.
Shen Wanying did end up returning home before the sun had set. However, she didn’t expect what was waiting for her after getting home. She received a WeChat message from Huo Cheng asking her if she had returned home.
Shen Wanying: “???”
Why does it look more and more like a husband checking on his wife?
Shen Wanying: M-hm, just arrived ^_^
Huo Cheng: That’s good.
Huo Cheng: See you next week.
Shen Wanying: See you next week.
Apparently, Huo Cheng only looked cold on the outside. He was unexpectedly a warmhearted person.

On Monday, Teacher Song, the homeroom teacher, announced two important news as soon as he entered the classroom.
“Next Friday, we will have the annual off-campus field trip. This time, the school has decided the second year students will be visiting the Starlight Farm.”
All students were cheering enthusiastically at the news.
Teacher Song asked the students to calm down before continuing, “In order to let everyone spend the field trip pleasantly, our school has especially shifted the monthly exam to be a few days earlier on Wednesday and Thursday, before the activity on Friday.”
The cheers in the classroom died down instantly as they turned into growls of frustration.
Teacher Song waited for the whole class to calm down, then once again brought up good news, “Don’t worry, this time we won’t rush to correct the papers before the weekend. Therefore, after the field trip, you can have a happy weekend.”
Some students enthusiastically asked, “Will there be homework that weekend?”
“Of course… we will.”
“……How is that a happy weekend then.”
“It’s just like having homework to accompany your happy weekend.” Teacher Song smiled amiably. “Furthermore, there is still more than a week. Everyone should actively prepare for the exam. The class president and the event committee members will organize the field trip. I’ve gotten the field trip’s rules. Later, I will give you each a copy.”
“Okay.” Shen Wanying and the other event committee members nodded with agreement.
“Then, let’s start the class.”
Probably due to the news of the field trip and the monthly test, the students were still a little absent-minded for a while. But Ji Yao, who is usually the most absent-minded, was writing notes in his exercise book intensely. All his classmates had seen his recent changes. As the old saying goes, there is pressure only when there is competition and motivation when there is pressure.
Ji Yao was doing his best to compete with Huo Cheng for this monthly test!
Seeing Ji Yao putting in great efforts to study probably had infected the other classmates’ spirit. Thus, everyone quickly entered the study mode.
Before school ended in the afternoon, Shen Wanying and the event committee members stood in front of the class and asked the students to stay.
“Everyone, please give us 10 minutes before you leave. Let’s discuss the events of next week’s field trip.” Shen Wanying said while holding the copy of the rules Teacher Song had passed out in her hand.
She briefly explained to the students, “This is not our first field trip. I believe you all know the basic discipline in the field trip, so I won’t go into the details here. This is a one day and one night field trip. On Friday morning, everyone will gather at school according to the specified time and take the bus to the Starlight Farm. Since you have to spend the night outside, don’t forget to bring everything you need.”
Compared to the monthly exam, this was undoubtedly a topic that made people excited right away. Everyone soon began to whisper excitedly amongst themselves. One could see that they were looking forward to it.
Even if this was Huo Cheng’s first time participating in the high school field trip, he wasn’t technically a high school student in essence. As a 24-year-old adult, this kind of activity wasn’t much different from a business trip to him.
His only biggest concern at the moment was that he remembered clearly that Shen Wanying was seriously injured on this field trip.
