Chapter 18: Husband’s Interrogation (1)

After Fang Yichang left, the peace returned to the archery club.

Tian Yu ordered all the other club members, who’d been watching the commotion unfold, to go back to training before turning to talk to Huo Cheng, “Let’s go, I prepared the training clothes for you already. Let’s get your clothes changed first.”

Huo Cheng followed after Tian Yu to the locker room while Shen Wanying also went to the other locker room to get changed.

The training uniform of the Archery Club was designed by the first-generation president. Because she liked personally liked Hanfu1, she added the collar and waist sash with Hanfu elements to the outfit. In order to make movement convenient, the sleeves were designed according to the standard archery uniform sleeves. The pants were loose wide-leg pants; red for girls and dark blue for boys.

After Huo Cheng had changed his clothes, he followed Tian Yu to meet the club’s coach. Though it was a club activity, archery was still quite a dangerous sport so the club’s coach had to be present at all times during the club’s hours. By the time they’d finished meeting the coach, Shen Wanying already had changed her clothes and begun practicing on the training grounds. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail, her hair swaying softly as a light breeze blew by. She held a traditional bow in her hands, poised properly to aim down towards a target.

Many club members who had been training before, completely stopped in their tracks to see her, especially the boys. They even took out their cellphones to secretly take a picture of her.

Seeing that, Huo Cheng frowned, then spoke to Tian Yu who stood beside him, “The training ground for men and women isn’t separated?”

Tian Yu was quite shocked hearing this, “Is it necessary to separate men and women in archery?”

Huo Cheng: “Isn’t the competition divided by men and women?”

Huo Cheng thought about it for a while and talked to Tian Yu, “If you separate the training grounds for men and women, I promise you to participate in the competition.”

It wasn’t impossible to separate the men and women’s training grounds, after all, archery is originally a sport for one person. As long as they added a partition in the middle of the field, it was easy to separate the two groups on each side. The issue was… archery isn’t a popular sport. They could only recruit as many new members as they had thanks to Shen Wanying.

If men and women were to train separately, then those boys would have no reason to stay in the archery club, which might directly lead to the decrease in new recruits next year!

He didn’t answer for a long while. Huo Cheng could see he was reluctant, so he didn’t force it, “If it doesn’t work, forget it.”

“Hey, I didn’t say no!” Tian Yu hastily urged Huo Cheng to stay. He was clear about the situation, just a moment ago, there were lightning sparks between them. Tian Yu would be in his third year of high school next year and wouldn’t be able to participate any longer in club activities. What did it have to do with him if they couldn’t recruit people next year? This was something the new president should have to worry about!

The arrow that Shen Wanying had just shot out had hit the bullseye. “Good shot.” Huo Cheng praised.

Shen Wanying smiled embarrassedly, “You don’t have to praise me.”

Huo Cheng said, “It isn’t easy to shoot accurately with the traditional bow.”

“You’re right.” Shen Wanying nodded in agreement, “But still… I like the traditional bow the most. Even though it doesn’t have many accessories and doesn’t shoot the most accurately, every time I pick it up, I feel like I’m a hero. With more accessories to assist the aiming, I don’t feel that way anymore.”

Hearing her response next to him, Tian Yu laughed and joked: “I didn’t expect our lady to have heroic feelings?”

The club had limited training equipment so they usually trained in groups of three to four people. However, Tian Yu had made a special exception to let Huo Cheng to train alone since he was already plenty skilled with archery.

Shen Wanying had been in the archery club for two years, and her results weren’t bad. She would occasionally help Tian Yu and the coach to guide the new members.

Shen Wanying changed her clothes after club activities had ended for the day and walked out of the training ground with her school bag and saw Huo Cheng standing outside. She walked up and asked him, “Huo Cheng, why are you still here, haven’t gone back yet?”

Huo Cheng turned around to look at her and replied, “I figured you would come out soon, so I was waiting for you.”
