The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 92.1
– What’s going on here?
A man suddenly appeared and stopped the Viscount.
And this man was extremely similar to Judith’s ex-husband, which is why she already knew him very well. However, the mood on the Duke’s face was different from usual. A terrible aura emanated from him, as if people had encountered a black panther. It was definitely something she had never felt around Derrick. But those eyes seemed too familiar.
Judith understood that this man was not her husband.
“I asked what’s going on here?” – the voice filled the silence again. – Why are you silent?
– I… Duke Mexillion!
The Viscount’s face was extremely frightened, as if the man opposite was frightening him.
But even in the midst of this, he did not hide his anger towards Judith.
“I’m interested too,” the girl turned her head towards the sharp voice next to her.
There was an expression of anger on Vincent’s face.
-Are you sane? How dare you do this? – The Duke was waiting behind him for an answer to his question.
– Do you have direct evidence that this incident is connected with my sister? Otherwise, you will regret what you did.
The nobles who witnessed what was happening looked at Vincent with excitement. Cold sweat dripped from the man. Seeing this, people gradually began to disperse so as not to fall under the hot hand. The Viscount’s face was distorted, as if he was in hot pain, but the unknown Duke finally released the Viscount’s bound hands.
“Let’s not spoil the atmosphere of the banquet anymore,” having received a warning, the Viscount lowered his tail and quickly ran away.
Before doing this, he looked furiously at Judith, as if thus showing his last courage. Vincent looked angrily at the back of the leaving man, after which he approached the Duke and shook his hand:
– Thanks for the help.
Even his brother acted as if he had known the man standing in front of him for a long time. Looking at this, Judith felt lonely. She did not understand what was happening here and who this person was. But the Duke looked only at her all this time, even when talking to the Marquis.
The moment Judith’s eyes met his, her legs suddenly lost strength. There was nothing unfamiliar about the red iris. This is what she has been waiting for for so long.
– Judith?
Thinking that the riot had died down, Vincent was startled to see his sister sitting on the floor. But the Duchess did not have time to answer this question.
-What did the Viscount do to you?
The Duke touched the girl’s palm.
Warm heat spread from this point throughout the body.
– Duke?
The brother walked up and looked puzzled at the man who was holding his sister by the wrist.
But even so, the man did not look back at Vincent, only looking into Judith’s eyes. And at that moment she only became more convinced that this was her husband.
– What is your name?
Around people were whispering about what was happening, but for the couple it did not matter. But it was important for Judith to know the man’s name. She had a premonition that right now she could find the answer to her question: was he involved in the invitation to the banquet? The man still looked at her, smiling tenderly.
“Derrick,” he answered.
Judith tensed as the name she knew so well came out of the Duke’s mouth.
— My name is Derrick Mexillion.
The conversation stopped at the man’s last words. Unable to understand what was happening here, Vincent moved straight towards his sister to pick her up, but Derrick was much quicker. The Duke picked up Judith, as her husband had done so many times.
“Your sister seems very tired, Marquis.”
– Yes?
– Let me take her to the rest room.
Vincent was amazed at Derrick’s attitude towards his sister, because he held her extremely carefully, as if he were his wife. And this scene seemed extremely familiar to him. The Dead Duke behaved exactly the same way at one of the Imperial banquets. At the thought of this, the Marquis experienced a strange feeling of fear and nervousness.
And although the Emperor had already appeared in the hall, no one could take their eyes off the incident that had happened just a moment ago.
