The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 73.1
– I do not know yet.
“But these are the same symptoms that my husband had.”
Derrick, noticing the worry in Judith’s head, touched her hand. The Duchess blinked slowly and remembered the day when her husband went into a short-term coma, the cause of which not a single doctor could identify. And soon he stood up as if nothing had happened. And now Judith experienced the same thing.
To some extent, the Duchess knew that her husband’s death would take her with it. Every time she remembered Derrick, her breath froze and her heart stopped, as if the girl had fallen into a swamp. And it was impossible to get out of it.
Thinking that she had now found her place, Judith completely forgot what it was like to feel like an outcast. After all, now all the problems seemed to be solved: everyone around considers her a real, beautiful, stately Duchess; The problem with the receiver is completely solved. There was no reason to even remember my former fears.
The door that Judith had tried to keep open for so long slammed violently in her face. Everything now seemed just a mirage.
– Judith!
Derrick held her shoulder tightly, shaking her so hard that she finally noticed him.
– Don’t do anything until the situation becomes clearer. You will not die the same way as your husband.
Although Judith’s mind was still foggy, she could still hear Derrick’s words. The Duchess could use her husband as an indicator to gain stability. No matter how harsh winds and ordeals befell him, the demon always remained unattainable and steadfast as stone. Even now, a strong voice helped.
“Now you better rest,” the Duchess’s pulse was very unstable.
All this time, Judith was touching her stomach with one hand, without noticing it. She subconsciously tried to protect the child from the horror and fear that she herself experienced.
Due to her distracted state, Judith could not sleep. But as soon as the demon’s hand touched her forehead, fatigue gradually made itself felt. Although it was an artificial feeling, the Duchess wanted to just close her eyes and not think about anything else.
A bloody light flashed in the darkness, as if what was happening was just the beginning.

Judith glanced at the tray. The food, carefully prepared by a chef considered the most talented in the Empire, smelled wonderful. Looking at the delicious dishes, the Duchess felt nausea approaching. But Judith could not yet make an official statement about her pregnancy: the fetus was still too small and did not have a stable position. That is why the Duchess did not want to do everything in a hurry.
“Eat some,” Derrick said, crossing his legs on the chair.
His gaze was persistent and intense. The husband watched the girl eat, because he was worried about Judith’s condition. But the Duchess stubbornly did not feel hungry at the sight of the tray, only nausea, thinking about the new life inside.
But she still felt responsible for the child, which is why she could not skip meals. If Judith didn’t get her vitamins, her child didn’t either. The doctor who came in the morning advised me to eat no matter how bad the morning sickness is: in the early stages it is easy to lose the fetus, so this is very important.
