The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 52.1
In the afternoon the sun broke through the clouds, trying to illuminate the garden. When it completely disappeared, the temperature dropped sharply, making the air cool. Therefore, the couple went to the mansion after a short break. Judith went to the library to check the budget and organize it. The budget is the power of the mistress of the family, and even the previous Duke never interfered with it.
This was evidence that they were equal. He did not recognize Judith as a wife, but saw her as a good Duchess. Of course, this did not mean that her husband helped her. Only the butler did this. But the girl wasn’t even sad about this, because she didn’t expect anything else.
Now she was carefully looking at the numbers until she heard a knock on the window. Startled, she turned around and saw a black-haired young man. It was impossible not to recognize him – this is Carmen, who has taken on the form of a man. Judith, puzzled that the raven was looking for her and not Derrick, tilted her head as she opened the window.
– Is the commander here?
“No, downstairs,” Judith thought she should have said where the demon was, but Carmen breathed a sigh of relief and then entered the library.
All this time the Duchess watched in surprise at his strange and unexpected behavior.
– Is the commander angry with me? “Judith shook her head because she hadn’t heard anything like that from Derrick.
She really wanted to know why the raven thought this way, but she didn’t think it was entirely correct, so she just watched Carmen. Raven looked like Derrick’s son. When Judith looked at the beautiful features and black hair, her eyes always stopped at the small horns, which became larger each time – after each meeting.
Carmen, realizing what the Duchess was looking at, touched his black horns. For him, this is only a part of the body, so he simply could not understand that this was something unfamiliar to the human race.
– Last time… – Carmen hid them, because no one was supposed to catch him or see him with horns, which is why the commander scolded him.
– Of course, this feature can attract attention.
– Yes… Is Lucas here?
Judith nodded, realizing that he was talking about yesterday’s demon. Although he left a terrible impression of himself, the Duchess did not say so. In fact, Carmen looked like a child in appearance, but acted too much like an adult. Lucas is the opposite. And it seemed very strange.
– Damn… Since he came, he must have made a lot of noise?
And, unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. Not only did Lucas, as the demon put it, make a fuss, but he also left a lot of damage and mental trauma on Judith’s body. Although the Duchess did not want to talk about it, she could not help but ask:
“Is it normal for a demon to be like this?”
– What exactly are you talking about?
– Derrick said Lucas was… Playful.
Carmen nodded tremblingly:
— Some demons actually find a lot of humor in Lucas’ behavior.
Demons really were like that: they liked to make noise, bully others, and enjoy the despair of others. Judith’s fists clenched. Hearing this, she sharply asked:
– Does this refer to Derrick?
This question has been hovering in my head since the consecration ceremony.
From the moment the demon himself mentioned the devilish habits. The boy looked at her with a mysterious look, not understanding whether this question was strange or naive.
