The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 48.2
The demon, who had persistently tried to bite and eat Judith, was now timid in front of Derrick.
– Why are you here?
“I think you know that yourself,” Lucas shrugged, relaxing.
And suddenly Judith remembered Carmen’s words, which she had completely forgotten.
– The headquarters will definitely find the commander.
As he said then, the demons began to look for Derrick. And in the process, the unexpected happened. Even when Judith tried to rethink the situation, she was still shaking with fear and pain. It was so creepy – Judith even began to sweat. She felt uncomfortable being in the same room with Lucas.
“Judith,” Derrick’s voice made her turn around.
Come to think of it, he rarely calls her by name, preferring a more status-based title: wife. The demon tucked his unruly, tangled silver hair behind her ear.
– I’ll come to you after the conversation. So get some rest.
Although Judith was afraid to be alone, she did not have the strength to ask. She nodded and laid her head on the pillow. Derrick, making sure that she was comfortable, wanted to leave, but noticed with what force his wife was still squeezing his hand. Light colored knuckles were visible. The demon was once again convinced that Judith was too scared.
– Do you want me to turn on the light? – Derrick snapped his fingers and a fire lit up in all the lamps.
In an instant the room became bright, as if it were a clear day. Derrick sat next to him until Judith herself let go of his hand and calmed down. He soon got up, covered her with a blanket and hurried away, grabbing Lucas by the scruff of the neck and pulling him out of the room.
The Duchess looked around the room distantly and only now discovered that the bedroom door had been completely knocked down. It looks like Derrick did this to open it.
As the demons left the room, Duke hit Lucas in the back of the head and screamed. The culprit moved forward with groans, holding his hands tied behind him. The exact same power as Derrick’s glowed in his fingers. The door slowly returned to its original state with a few swings of the hand.
The only thing Judith couldn’t understand in this world, no matter how much she looked, was magic. She seemed too far away.
Soon the door closed silently. Left alone in the bedroom, Judith heard nothing.

Leaving the bedroom, Derrick led Lucas into the office. Taking the cigarettes out of the drawer, the demon lit a cigarette. The room was filled with faint smoke. Leaning on the table, Derrick asked:
– Why did you come?
In total, three demons served him as commanders. As Carmen predicted, some of them will definitely come. However, Derrick never expected this from Lucas, the most narcissistic of the three.
“Aren’t you glad to see me?”
– Glad? Certainly. If I had known about your arrival, I would have immediately run away from here.
“So are you really stuck in a human body?” – Lucas laughed bitterly.
As expected, he already knew all the details of what happened. Derrick stood up, leaned his elbows on the table and hit Lucas in the stomach, and when he bent over and groaned dully, he stepped on his shoulder. Everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Lucas, who had been sad all this time, smiled. Delight shone in his eyes.
– Wow! But you really haven’t changed. I was terrified when I saw you.
– What?
– I mean you and that person! I wondered why such a dirty man pretended to be a gentleman all this time. I already thought that you had become softer once you were in this body.
Derrick frowned as if he had heard something stupid.
“In any case, your powers as a human have become significantly less than when you were alive as a demon,” Lucas chuckled again.
“It’s all because of that bastard Hannibal.”
“You were killed by a hybrid… I think it’s time for the commander to resign.”
“It’s none of your damn business,” Derrick snapped.
