The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 48.1
– Damn, this hurts! I heard from Carmen that you have lost all your magic. Isn’t this a complete lie?
The darkness, thick as fog, finally dissipated. And only then the clearly manifested shadows became visible.
-Can I change my appearance?
A crash was heard, and then two legs came out of the darkness. The slowly approaching demon revealed itself, Judith’s breathing calmed, although the trembling in her heart and fingers did not subside.
– You are afraid? Derrick asked, noticing this. The Duchess nodded weakly, pressing her lips tightly together.
She was afraid that the unpleasant attack would happen again. And then the girl didn’t know – could she be saved? Although now the demon was trying to calm Judith, stroking her head and hugging her, anger burned in his eyes.
– Don’t come close. Can’t you see that she’s scared? Derrick barked.
Judith’s gaze turned to the demon, completely transformed into human form. He had light brown hair and facial features similar to her husband. The moment their eyes met, the demon laughed. And this shocked her.
– Why are you here?
— A lot of time has passed since our last meeting. Don’t you mean to say you’re glad to see me?
– Do I need to console your pride? – Derrick swore with a gloomy look.
The devil raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. Judith, although she saw that he was not going to do anything to her, was still afraid and trembled, trying to calm her heartbeat.
Derrick looked nervous because he didn’t know how his wife would react to the demon’s presence. He held her tightly, like a baby kangaroo. And the only thing Duke could feel now was irritation. Derrick decided to use his last resort to calm Judith:
– Let’s tie your hands.
“I don’t like this idea,” although the demon in the dark was indignant, he still extended both hands forward.
Seeing the unexpected obedience, the girl realized that he was not hostile towards Derrick. When her husband snapped his fingers, a bright light engulfed the demon’s wrists. At that moment, Judith felt a little relieved, as if everything was truly under control.
After releasing so much adrenaline, the girl felt a terrible headache. As a result of the struggle, she was seriously injured, hitting everything she could. Therefore, every part of the body ached and hurt. And the pain was most intense in my shins.
The faint groan that escaped his lips made Derrick shy again. Seeing the red oblong scratch on her left calf, his face changed, becoming incredibly serious. It seemed as if someone had ruined the most precious thing in his life.
“Seriously, should I kill you?” – a bass rang out, directed at the demon with his hands tied.
Derrick carefully lifted her calf and touched it with his fingers, from which, like a few moments ago, a bright light was oozing. The wound, which seemed very deep, disappeared without a trace.
When the acute pain disappeared, it was as if new life was breathed into Judith, causing her to experience terrible thirst and dry mouth. The Duchess took her husband by the hand and, looking into the darkness, asked:
– Derrick, who is this?
– This is Lucas. The same demon as me,” while Derrick answered, he carefully examined the girl’s body to see if there were any more injuries on her.
Realizing that his wife was completely healthy, he calmed down.
“I thought they would come… But they won’t attack you.” I didn’t know it would happen like this. Damn,” Derrick cursed. -Are you still afraid?
Next to the demon, her heart beat slower and calmed down. The warmth of the body restored the mind. Of course, she did not feel complete relief, but she still felt calmer. Judith seemed to hide in his arms from the evil of the outside world and in particular the terrible spirit named Lucas.
The demon watched the actions of the couple on the bed and smiled, meeting the eyes of the Duchess.
“Man, I’m sorry I scared you,” and it sounded quite sincere, which surprised the girl.
Judith, who was quite naive, noticed this. But Derrick only began to hold her tighter and looked intently at Lucas. It seemed that now they were at war, because the Devil’s gaze was similar to the General.
