She could only watch as her husband’s tall and straight back moved further and further away from her.

Bai Qingyan stood alone in the patio.

The afterglow of the sunset gently enveloped her body, lengthening her figure. The light gray dress she wore made her appear sweet and graceful. Her soft black hair was draped over one shoulder, the sunset creating golden highlights that gave her an angelic aura.

She lowered her head and the fading light of the sunset dyed her lashes golden, contrasting with her reddened eyes. She firmly grabbed her skirt, fisting the material in despair as she watched Gu Yezhi walk away from her. But she did not move from that spot.

When Gu Yezhi didn’t hear her footsteps, he paused and looked behind him. It was then he saw that Bai Qingyan still stood there with her head down. Her beautiful face seemed so lonely, it made his heart uncomfortable. Defeated, he walked back to her.

He stopped within reaching distance. He wanted to touch her, but he restrained himself and clenched his fist. His voice was indifferent, showing none of the conflicts inside his heart. “What happened?”

Bai Qingyan heard him and, lifting her head, gave him a charming smile.

“I can’t go. I need Mr. President to kiss me so I can move.”

Gu Yezhi noticed her reddened eyes and his heart tightened painfully. He quickly stepped forward and gathered her in his arms, kissing her fiercely. He’d erase that pout on her lips and make her forget ever feeling wronged.

Whenever Bai Qingyan acted like a spoiled child with him, it irresistibly tugged at his heart. Gu Yezhi couldn’t bear to see her distressed in any way. Each tear she shed was like a knife wounding his heart.

He was willing to do anything for her, as long as she smiled.

Bai Qingyan held onto her husband’s waist and let her tears drop. She truly had deserved it. She had been so stupid in her past life, playing Gu Yezhi like a fool. Whatever he did to her in this life was all retribution.

The kiss lasted for a long time. The setting sun sprinkled its golden rays on the couple, enveloping the kissing pair. From afar, the image easily rivaled any picture scroll unraveled beneath the sunset.

Finally, they separated. Gu Yezhi still held his little wife in his arms, a small smile on his lips. Reaching out, he gingerly wiped away her tears and licked at her lips, but did not comment on it. He picked her up and carried her toward the main hall.

Bai Qingyan’s hands were around his neck and her head rested on his chest. She kept looking at his face as if she wanted to engrave his figure deeply inside her memory.

The butler noticed the arrival of both his masters and stepped forward. “Sir, Madam. Dinner is ready.” Li Shu said.

Gu Yezhi entered the dining hall and set Bai Qingyan on her feet. A servant brought over the special hand sanitizer, knowing her master’s habits. Bai Qingyan did not have to move a muscle, because Gu Yezhi stood behind her and, wrapping his large hands around her small ones, proceeded to wash them himself.

Once he was done, he took a towel from the servant and wiped her hands clean, drying each finger meticulously. Bai Qingyan was very aware of his compulsion with cleanliness, so she didn’t complain.

She sat down and waited for him before starting to eat.

Gu Yezhi’s way of eating was very elegant, he did not talk during meals. She looked at him from time to time, considering. In the end, she decided to talk about what happened at the coffee shop, and of how she spent one million yuan. It was his money, after all. She had to give him some justification.

There was one point in particular that she still didn’t understand.

“It’s really strange… What does Bai Xiaojin being banned have to do with me?” Bai Qingyan was trying to figure it out but kept drawing a blank. Either way, it wasn’t very important. In her opinion, Bai Xiaojin and Kang Meizhi had a few screws loose. They were always talking rubbish over any matter.

Bai Qingyan didn’t expect Gu Yezhi to be the cause. “I banned her. She came to the company in the afternoon and talked nonsense. I don’t want to see her again.” His voice was cold and she could hear the disgust on it.
