Queen of the Scalpel - Chapter 89 - Dame Clarence
Chapter 89: Dame Clarence
It was a voice that was apathetic. Elise turned her head at the familiar voice.
“Ron?”
Elise called his name in surprise. Blue eyes with blonde hair. A handsome face but cold face. It was Ron!
“Why are you here? Do you have business here at the medical center?”
Elise tilted her head and asked. But Ron shook his head.
“No. I don’t have business here.”
“Then why are you here? Do you have someone to meet?”
Elise looked around. There was only medical center staff nearby. There weren’t any fancy estates nearby, and it didn’t look like someone where a high noble like Ron would enter. Ron answered indifferently.
“I came to see you.”
“Pardon?”
Elise widened her eyes.
Me? Why?
“…Why?”
Ron, no, the Crown Prince closed his mouth. Why?
There wasn’t a particular reason, but he just remembered that she had a test today.
“Last time, I heard you were taking a test. Did you do well?”
“…No. I did so-so.”
Elise answered in a depressed voice. She actually hadn’t done that bad. Relatively speaking, there probably wasn’t anyone who did better than her.
But there wasn’t a curve for this test. She had to score in the 80s, but she was worried she didn’t. But there was no guarantee that she would’ve done well. Then, it would be marked as wrong for her. ‘This is the only chance.’ Others could test again, but not her.
“…….”
The two were silent for a moment. Elise didn’t feel like talking because of the test, and the Crown Prince was muttering, ‘I don’t like it. Really.’ inside his head. ‘What’s so important about the test?’ Of course, he knew. To that girl, it was the winning factor to the bet with the Emperor.
So he didn’t like it more. ‘Does she not want to be married to me that much?’ It wasn’t a marriage that was set on his will either. So he didn’t really care about it when she brought it up to the Emperor. There was no way she would win anyway, and it didn’t matter if the engagement was canceled. ‘It’s not like it’s only the Clarence family.’
There was the Buckingham family, and the Prussian Grand Ducal family, and the Hamsburg family. They were all good options. It didn’t matter who he was going to be married to, because it was only to fulfill his duties of being the Emperor. But…he didn’t like seeing her being depressed like that. No, to be exact, he was slightly angry. So he spoke.
“Follow me.”
“What?”
“I said follow me.”
“Sir Ron?”
“I’ll buy you something to eat. You said you liked strawberry cake last time, right? Or mango pudding? Banana tart? I’ll buy you anything you want, so come follow me.”
Since he didn’t like seeing her so depressed, he wanted to feed her food that she wanted. He felt like he would feel better if she was happy. And so the Crown Prince asked for a date from a young noble girl.

The place he took her was a carriage on the opposite street.
“Come up.”
Elise dumbfoundedly followed him up the carriage. She didn’t have any reason to follow him, but she found herself tagging along to where he was.
“Where will you be going, Your Hi-no, Sir?”
The imperial servant in the carriage stuttered. Linden spoke when she entered the carriage.
“Dessert cafe.”
“What? De…what?”
“To the most famous dessert cafe in Londo.”
The imperial servant was taken aback. Dessert cafe? That Crown Prince? But the servant hid his surprise and spoke politely.
“The most famous dessert cafe is Cafe Lay on Piccadilly Street, should I take you there?”
The Crown Prince looked at him like it was obvious.
“Okay, I’ll take you to Cafe Lay.”
“W-Wait!”
Elise listened to their conversation with surprise.
“It’s okay. Cafe Lay.”
“You don’t want to?”
She shook her head. Cafe Lay was somewhere she wanted to go as well.
“That’s not it. But…it’s too far, and you’re probably busy. You can just buy me anything around here.”
“Anyways, so you’re not saying you don’t like it.”
“I don’t want to say I don’t like it but…that’s…”
He ignored her words and looked at the servant.
“Go.”
“Ok, sir!”
The servant looked at Elise and spoke politely.
“I’ll start now, miss. If you’re uncomfortable with something, let me know right away.”
“Ah, ah…yes.”
