Queen of the Scalpel - Chapter 76 - Sword Emperor
Chapter 76: Sword Emperor
When he pulled up the blankets, Elise quietly murmured.
“No…”
“…!”
He looked at her surprised. Thankfully, it seemed she had been talking in her sleep. ‘What is she dreaming about?’ Her face was twisted in pain.
“No…no…”
She was groaning pitifully.
“Don’t die…please…please.”
And a teardrop fell down her cheek.
“…!”
Linden’s expression hardened at her unexpected appearance. Just what was she dreaming about to cry in her sleep? And don’t die? Who? She looked too pained to say it was a simple nightmare. He looked down at her stiffly. She didn’t sleep-talk anymore, but tears were gathered in her eyes. Like they would spill down her face any moment.
“Sigh.”
He wiped her tears with his finger. Then…he spoke after some hesitation.
“I don’t know what dream it is…but I order you not to have those dreams.”
Because I’m frustrated.
He quickly turned to leave the room. When he reached an area not touched by moonlight, his body turned into darkness. His powers had activated. Linden looked at Elise for the last time.
“Sweet dreams.”
Please.
And he left the White Palace. But it was then, when he was secretly leaving, someone muttered from the top of the White Palace.
“It’s been awhile since I saw his shadow walking. Isn’t that a bit dangerous? Did he want to see my sister-in-law that much? I thought he didn’t have any romantic cells in him, but I guess he has that side of him too.”
It was a young man. He was lying on top of the Palace, but surprisingly, his body was flying in the air. Like he was lying down on an invisible carpet. He grinned.
“Well it’s fate since we got trapped in here together, should I go greet her? She’s trying to be a doctor? Doctors seem to like alcohol, will our sister-in-law like drinking as well?”
His name was Mikhail de Romanoff. The current 3rd Prince, and the Crown Prince’s political enemy. He was the greatest womanizer of Londo, the most powerful Aura Knight, and the man called the Flame Emperor.

The 3 investigators sent from the medical research facility closely examined the Duchess’s wound.
“I see. That’s what happened.”
The royal physician Ben muttered to himself.
“You agree too, right, Grayam?”
“Yes, sir.”
Grayam nodded his head. Baron Kyle from the Rosedale Hospital seemed dissatisfied with something, but he agreed with them as well.
“I think so as well.”
“Then is there anything else we have to examine? Let’s report our findings.”
And the investigation team requested to have an audience with the Emperor.
“Greetings to His Majesty!”
“Ah, yes. You’ve all worked hard. Is the investigation over?”
“Yes, sir.”
Marquis El, sitting next to him, anxiously waited for the results. The Emperor probably wouldn’t decree a major crime on Elise, but if the results weren’t good, he didn’t know for sure what would happen.
On the other hand, Minchester asked with an expectant mind. He wanted to end the bet with Elise.
“Go ahead, quickly. How was it? There was definitely a problem with Lady Clarence’s emergency treatment, right?”
He was planning on preventing Elise from working at the hospital if there was even the slightest mistake. ‘Now I finally get to take care of this. The future empress, a doctor? No way.’ He also wanted to pull their engagement announcement forward while he was at it. Why would they need to wait for her adult ceremony?
Ben began to speak. But his tone was a bit strange. Like he was a bit excited, perhaps?
“This…is a miracle.”
“…What?”
The Emperor asked before he could stop himself. What?
“It’s perfect, Your Majesty! It was a perfect way to handle the situation!”
“…what are you talking about? The way of putting a knife to the neck is perfect?”
“If it wasn’t for that method, the Duchess would’ve died. The only reason why she survived is because of Lady Clarence.”
“But wasn’t it dangerous? What if it went wrong? How can you say that method was perfect?”
Ben didn’t read his mood and explained in a rush.
“So that’s why I said it’s a miracle! The idea of slicing the throat to clear an airway has been around for some time. But because it was so dangerous, we haven’t been able to attempt it. However, it’s been perfectly done without even hurting any of the organs around it.”
“…Ahem.”
The Emperor coughed uncomfortably.
“What are you saying? It was a perfect surgery? Wasn’t it just a coincidence? That seems excessive.”
“At first, that’s what we thought as well. Until we saw this.”
Ben pulled something out. It was a piece of paper, and there were messy sentences written all over it like a child had scribbled on it.
“What’s that?”
The Emperor wrinkled his forehead at the letters that were hard to understand.
“It’s a referral.”
“Referral?”
Referral? Then had Lady Clarence written those ugly letters? And what was with the referral?
Ben spoke in an excited voice.
“It’s not just any referral. She described exactly how she did it and…I feel like I’m reading a research paper looking at it.”
“…”
What? Research paper?
