The Emperor opened his mouth.

“Marquis.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“If there wasn’t any problem, I’ll reward Elise grealty. But if there’s the slightest problem!”

The Emperor spoke in a firm voice.

“This is the end of the bet. I won’t allow that child to work at the hospital any longer.”

He didn’t plan on interfering with the investigation. He was going to have the greatest doctors observe what had happened. He thought there would be a lot of problems with the way Elise did things.

‘I must make an investigation team as soon as possible.’

He gave the order to his servant, and 3 doctors were chosen. He was determined to prevent Elise from working at the hospital once the team brought their results.

A late evening. darkness was descending on a gray palace in the Palace. It was called the White Palace. Also, in this place where royal members who needed to be punished were confined in, Elise was here.

There was a new visitor, but nothing had changed that much. Elise just calmly layed on her bed like she was dead without saying she felt wrong, or to forgive her. The Royal Guard worried about her. Anyways, as time passed, the silent night deepened. In the stillness, a shadow entered the palace.

It was a secretive movement that no one from the Royal Guard realized. The shadow moved towards the room Elise was locked in.

When the shadow wordlessly entered Elise’s room, the moonlight shined on it. And the face of the shadow was revealed. It was none other than the Crown Prince, Linden de Romanoff.

His face was crestfallen seeing Elise asleep. ‘Elise, you fool.’ He grit his teeth. ‘How could you do something so stupid!’ He remembered what she had done not too long ago at the anniversary ball. ‘What were you going to do if something went wrong?’ He knew that she had done it to save the Duchess. But he was still furious. How was she planning on being responsible if something went wrong? She didn’t even have any fear. Of course, he was grateful his relative was saved. However, he felt more angry every time he thought of what he had seen with his own two eyes. ‘I really don’t like it.’ At first, he hadn’t liked her. How she kept on making him think about her, be worried about her, be anxious, and how she kept on popping up in his mind! He didn’t like everything.

‘Sigh.’

He let out a big sigh. ‘And why am I here again. To see this girl I don’t like.’ He didn’t understand himself. Entering the White Palace secretly wasn’t easy.

He had to use one of his supernatural powers called shadow walking, and this was dangerous. Since there was another powerful supernatural power user in this castle. He didn’t know. He just kept thinking about her and he found himself here. ‘Elise’ He looked at the girl lying on the bed. Because of the moonlight, she looked more pale. Emotions poured out from him. They were desperate, regretful, and pained.

“Sigh, she’s looking quite comfortable. Not knowing how many people are suffering because of her outside.”

He looked at her face. A doll like but weak looking face that made you want to protect her. She looked like she would faint at the sight of blood but she had caused that incident. ‘It’s not just this time.’ She had done the splenectomy, and other large surgeries. And he knew she treated severe patients in Terwa hospital. ‘She’s crazy, with that body.’

But the problem was that it fit her. No, it didn’t just fit her, but she looked beautiful doing it.

Her resolve and her smile looking at her patients made her shine. It was a different beauty then when she got dressed up for balls. It was a beauty that no one could take their eyes off of.

“Sigh.”

Linden sighed at the sudden frustration he felt. Even though he was looking at her, he felt uncomfortable. Like something was blocked in his chest.

“Is she okay now?”

He remembered that she had had a fever. Based on the sweat on her forehead, it seemed like she was still struggling.

“She should be careful. How’s she going to take care of patients like that.”

He didn’t like it. She was burning up and had pushed her blanket to the side. He didn’t like it so much that he covered her with the blanket, inwardly complaining that the blanket was too thin.
