Queen of the Scalpel - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Treatment Of Him And Her
“Have some tea.”
“Thank you, sir.”
A maid walked up and poured some tea for him. It had an elegant scent fitting of the Clarence family, but Marquis Gote couldn’t smell any of it because of his nervousness.
“You don’t have any difficulties running the hospital?”
“Yes, thanks to your support we don’t have any problems.”
“You seem to be working hard.”
The Marquis wasn’t able to get to the point and spent some time saying this and that. Eventually, Viscount Gote had to ask.
“Uh sir…why did you call me?”
“Oh…that’s.”
The Marquis closed his mouth in hesitation.
“…?”
Viscount Gote became even more nervous. Just how important was it that the chancellor was having this much difficulty speaking about it?!
“Please go ahead. Is there a problem in the hospital I don’t know about?”
“That’s not it…it’s.”
The Marquis slowly opened his mouth.
“Do you know a child called Rose?”
“Excuse me?”
Viscount Gote responded with a question because he wasn’t sure if he heard right.
“You don’t know? She recently started at Teresa Hospital…”
“I do know. But what about her?”
Rose. There was no way he didn’t know. It was the most famous name in Teresa Hospital. But why was the Marquis asking for her?
“Ahem, is that child doing well?”
It was a slightly embarrassed voice. The hospital director spoke confusedly.
“Yes, she’s fine. She’s not just fine but…”
“But?”
“She’s doing incredibly well.”
“Really? How so?”
The Marquis smiled hearing that she was doing well. Gote just looked at him in confusion. Did he call him to ask about the child’s wellbeing? Why? ‘Could it be?’ He thought of the Marquis’s only daughter, but quickly shook his head. ‘There’s no way she would enter the hospital as a disciple…’ And the mean rumors about Lady Clarence were so different from Rose.
There was no way they were the same person. ‘Then why?’ But the Viscount just answered. Rose? There was just one word that could describe her.
“Lady Rose is a genius.”
“…!”
The Marquis was shocked at his unexpected words.
“Genius? Eli…no, Rose?”
“Yes, not just a genius, but a genius of the century.”
The Marquis dropped his mouth open. The child wasn’t just a genius, but a genius of the century? Her?
“Is that true?”
He checked to see if the Viscount was joking. But there wasn’t a single lie in his face. Rather…
“Actually, to describe her as a genius isn’t enough.”
And Gote thought to himself. ‘I was surprised as well.’ So he didn’t believe the fact that she had finished the splenectomy. It just didn’t make sense logically.
So he looked into everything that had happened since she came. From the first day. And he was more shocked. It wasn’t just the splenectomy. From when she took care of the patients about to die, and the countless emergency treatments that she did in the center. It was all amazing. Gote had to acknowledge that she was a genius sent from the heavens.
“Lady Rose…is really a genius.”
“Just what did she do?”
“So what happened was…”
Gote told him everything Elise had done.
“…”
And after listening to his explanation, the Marquis’s face turned pale. ‘My daughter, Elise? Really?’ He wasn’t a doctor so he couldn’t understand the medical terms, but he could know for sure about one thing. Elise was doing extraordinary things in the hospital! The Marquis asked in disbelief.
“Is that true? The Rose that I know is only 16.”
“At first, I couldn’t believe it as well. Because it doesn’t sense. A newly turned 16 year old doing those things, ha.”
Gote laughed.
“There wasn’t a single exaggeration in anything I said.”
“…”
“Perhaps…she might be a doctor who surpasses Count Graham or Great Alchemist Fleming.”
“…!”
The Marquis opened his mouth in surprise. He knew Graham and Fleming. Weren’t they outstanding people who established the basics of medicine? Elise would be comparable to those kinds of people?
“Aren’t you making a mistake? Maybe you confused the name.”
“There’s only one disciple named Rose in the hospital.”
“…”
The Marquis couldn’t calm himself down. The reason why he called Gote wasn’t to ask him how Elise was doing. At first, it was to see how bad she did. It would be a relief if she didn’t get in trouble. There wasn’t even a need to consider the bet with the Emperor. So with a pitying mind, he wanted to ask how she was doing. But his daughter was a genius? Beyond logic?
