Intense Love - Chapter 99
Chapter 99 – Panic
The word ‘panic’ was hardly in Zhou Shiyun’s dictionary. Not only because of his natural temperament, but also because of his profession as a doctor. The most important thing for a doctor was to be calm – he had to deal with countless instances of life and death in the daily. How would he be able to save others if he panicked at the most trivial issues?
However, when it came to matters concerning Su Jinbei, he repeatedly lost that calmness.
When he found out that Su Jinbei had been stranded alone in the rainy night, his heart dropped and fumbled in panic for no reason. He was scared, scared that she would be trapped somewhere and could not find a way out, scared of her freezing in the cold, and was even more scared at the idea of getting injured. He never knew he would ever fear so many things, but nothing could calm him down unless he found her.
“Senior Brother!”
“What did she say before she left?!” Zhou Shiyun turned around and asked as he came to a stop at the place Lin Qingwei directed him to.
“She really didn’t say anything else, she only told me she would go back to ask whether the child has been found.” Lin Qingwei said.
Zhou Shiyun turned on the flashlight and spun in circles, pointing it to his surroundings. He could barely see what was in front of him, if she had accidentally fallen into a pit and fainted, none of them would be able to find her!
“Dr. Zhou, Dr. Lin, you should put on a raincoat first.” The colleague who caught up after them said.
Lin Qingwei was just about to fetch the raincoats, but Zhou Shiyun had already moved on to search for her again, “Su Jinbei!”
The colleague hurriedly chased after him. “Dr. Zhou, you should put on your raincoat. No matter how worried you are, there’s no reason for you not to wear it. It’s freezing cold out here, you won’t be able to endure being soaked for long.”
“She, too, might be soaked and freezing in the rain.”
His colleague was taken aback, a cautious chill ran down his spine when he heard Zhou Shiyun’s low voice saying, “She must be very cold.”
Lin Qingwei’s eyes reddened when he heard this. This was all because of him. Had he not let her go back or at the very least accompanied her back then, this wouldn’t have happened. It was so dark out, and it was raining cats and dogs. The road was rocky and slippery, he could hardly imagine what state a girl like her could be in.
A few more people joined the search. It went on for more than an hour. The rain had gradually subsided but Su Jinbei was still nowhere to be found.
“Dr. Zhou…” All eyes turned towards Zhou Shiyun, “You’re thoroughly soaked… How about you go back and change your clothes, we… will continue to look for her.”
“No need.”
“But…”
“I want to find her.”
The group exchanged glances at each other and finally resolved that they wouldn’t be able to persuade him, so all they could do was yell at the top of their lungs, hoping that Su Jinbei could hear them.
“Dr. Zhou! Dr. Zhou!”
Right then, a ray from a flashlight shone from the distance, followed by a child in his early teens. The child panted, “Dr. Zhou, are you looking for Su Jinbei?”
Zhou Shiyun was taken aback, “Yes.”
“Su Jinbei is at my house,” the child explained, “She asked me to come over and let you know.”
“Lead the way!”
Su Jinbei was sitting in the home of one of the children who had helped her look for Xiaoyuan. The child’s family consisted of only him and his grandmother.
Due to her fall, Su Jinbei’s whole body was covered in mud that froze her down to her bones. Because her feet were still weak, the group of children took her to the nearest home.
