Chapter 30

Aiden Rosen was the third of ten siblings.

Each sibling’s mother was different as their father was constantly changing wives.

Aiden didn’t show any affection towards his many brothers and sisters.

So was the high society.

One day, while living a colorless and odorless life, Aiden Rosen met Juliana.

It was at the party she held. Aiden felt alienated among countless people who wanted to receive even a single touch of her hand.

Much like the alienation he felt among his brothers and sisters, he tried to escape from the party. But he didn’t know that Juliana Auburn caught the sight of the party guest who was running away just before the party became really exciting.

That night, Aiden was chosen by Juliana Auburn.

They danced together, shared drinks together, and earned the title of “friends” to each other.

When her plump, red lips sweetly called his name, the colorless and odorless life surrounding him disappeared at once. From that day on, Aiden became one of the countless men chasing the news about Juliana Auburn.

Ah. How could he forget that night? The gestures of her hands. The words that were spoken in a playful tone of voice. It was great fun.

But it wasn’t until later that he realized it. That night the men there had the same idea.

She was stealing men’s hopes. Stealing their hopes without guilt, and now she turned away from them as if they were all rubbish.

‘It won’t be like that anymore. Juliana, I won’t let you do that.’

He was excited and green-. Aiden, who climbed on top of a white horse that gave off a snort, pulled his back up. He liked the iron helmet that obstructed his view. Because he only looked ahead.

The illegitimate duke, the shackles of Juliana Auburn and her liberty, was riding on a black horse.

Aiden looked up for a moment at the highest seats where nobles were sitting. To be precise, he looked at Juliana Auburn, who was sitting at the top of the stands.

Ah. Still, she was beautiful. Like a beautiful demon that eats up hopes and by doing so fills his stomach.

‘I’m going to let you look back at me. I-, here, do what the other guys couldn’t…….!’

A horn bearer blew at the tournament’s venue in the honor of the distant ancestors who a long time ago used to blow the horn on the plains.

At that moment, the boundary between the commoners and the nobility was broken and they all started jumping up, stamping their feet and shouting.

“Wow ahhh!”

And among the insanity of the noise, only Juliana closed her eyes tightly.

‘Evan…….!’

The two knights ran in parallel.

Aiden clasped the lance firmly. The field of vision narrowed and looked red. Within that red field of vision, the Duke was riding the horse with terrifying momentum. He didn’t wear a helmet, so his face was clearly bright even from a distance.

The Duke was smiling.

Just with the corners of his mouth raised and his eyes squinted, he was clutching a huge lance.

Aiden Rosen put the lance head forward again.

It’s about time. The moment they got within each other’s range, Aiden Rosen pointed the lance first.

“Ahhhhhhh!”

Aiden’s lance apparently aimed at the neck of his easy target, Evan Hilcheon.

Aiden Rosen was sure of his victory. It was the Duke who did not even have proper protective gear in front of the enemy. Just thinking about the scene where the Duke was badly pierced, he couldn’t get rid of his excitement. He thought that excitement would lead him to victory.

‘Juliana!’

For a brief moment, Aiden Rosen thought that the lance stabbed the Duke in the neck.

However, the dull feeling of stabbing something was just an illusion. A lance cutting through the heavy air narrowly grazed over Evan Hilcheon’s head.

“Hyuk!”

Aiden was surprised and lowered his lance.

Obviously, obviously-!

The Duke, who avoided the attack, suddenly appeared under his gaze. His fierce gaze was glaring at the faintly shining neck between the hard parts of the armor.

Aiden, who tried to lay his back on his horse, lost his balance.

“Hi, ha, ha!”

The white horse, which was tamed for the game, neighed in surprise when he pulled the reins angrily.

He could hear the horse.

When Aiden’s posture collapsed, the blow was quick.

Puck!

“Crrrrrrrrr!”

Aiden Rosen, whose eyes were unaware of the pain, clutched his hands around his pierced neck.

As soon as the sound of blood bubbles was heard, the audience in the spectator’s seats was rather silenced with excitement.

At one time, their instinct was to take what they had, and steal what they didn’t have, and then roamed through fields and the mountains. The thrilling silence surrounding the crowd didn’t last long.

“Wow!”

The audience in the stands clapped their hands, stamped their feet, and whistled like those who had just seen a great performance.

Bang-.

Aiden Rosen’s body rolled off the white horse.

On the other side, Evan, who jumped from the black horse, strode toward Rosen’s body. Then, without hesitation, he pulled out the broken lance.

Whispers-.

Turning the lance around and checking its condition, he glanced at Aiden Rosen’s body being dragged away.

And he wiped his blood-stained hands with an indifferent expression on his face as if he were someone who had nothing to do with the noises of these crazy spectators.

Soon after, Evan looked at the audience and it was difficult to recognize his expression because one side of his face was stained with blood.

Juliana no longer pretended not to know. Evan was looking at her. From the day she opened the window to see him come back home, until now. All the time.
