Su Qiuzi found a quieter place and answered the phone. It was noisy on her side and very quiet on He Yu’s side.

“Are you done yet?” He Yu asked.

“What?” An electric bass high bounced just now and Su Qiuzi didn’t hear what He Yu said.

He Yu also heard the noise and stood by the window, looking down at the banquet hall, he said in a deep voice, “When it’s over, I’ll come and get you.”

After hearing that, Su Qiuzi was stunned and said, “I can go home by myself.”

Then the man said, “I’m afraid it’s not going to be safe.”

He Yu simply said, “Pick up my wife from work.”

When he said that, Gu Yu smiled and said, “You are picking her up yourself?”

Nodding slightly to the person who exchanged words with him, as the man was polite, elegant and gentle, he gave Gu Yu a sideways glance and said, “It is perfectly proper for me to pick her up.”

It made sense in that way.

Gu Yu knew that that wife of his, in the beginning, was married in order to cooperate with the Su Family. But, at the same time, He Yu also did not want to completely reconcile with the Su Family, so he had settled for marrying such a second-best choice which was the first daughter of the Su Family.

And now this whole thing of settling for second best seemed to be more than just that.

Gu Yu laughed as he braced himself behind his elbows on the handrail of the balcony and looked at He Yu, “You’re really… I remember when you used to reject any women, they always said you had to find a wife that your grandfather liked. Does your grandfather like the wife you have now?”

“He will like her.” He Yu faintly remarked, “As long as I like her, he will.”

“So the women who pursued you in the beginning, they failed to do so because you didn’t like them?” Gu Yu raised his eyebrows.

After the matter was explained, He Yu didn’t stay any longer. He lifted his wrist to check the time, finished his champagne, patted Gu Yu’s shoulder, and left with a smile.

At 9:30, the hosting of the bar ended and Su Qiuzi hurried off the stage. When she got off the stage, she received a call from He Yu, who had already arrived. She hung up the phone and returned backstage, packing up her things as she said to Lin Qing, “I’m leaving now.”

However, Lin Qing didn’t have time to take care of her, as she was on the phone.

“Why are you only picking up the phone now? I’ve been calling since seven o’clock, and I’ve already lost my mind over the fact that you’ve been in bed with someone else for three hours.” Lin Qing said with dissatisfaction.

“You just can’t stop answering the phone even if you’re working, so why are you mad at me. Who doesn’t work, is it that hard to answer the phone?”

Su Qiuzi stopped moving and looked at Lin Qing. Lin Qing waved at her and told her to go ahead and turned back to continue arguing with the person on the phone.

By the look of it, the call was bound to be for Xu Shao. After Lin Qing and Xu Shao fell in love, because of their long-distance relationship, they spent very little time together.
