Chapter 79: Receiving Red Packets (2) 

Su Qiuzi sighed softly and closed her eyes, soon becoming drowsy and drifting off to the land of dreams. 

He Yu took care of the old man for the night and spent the Spring Night Festival at the hospital. With neither of them mentioning the events that took place in the evening, they got along peacefully. After waiting for the doctor to recheck the old man’s body and confirming that he was fine, He Yu returned to the He Family’s residence alongside the old man. 

On the first day after the Spring Festival, his family reunited and He Yu stayed with the old man at his house, playing chess and drinking tea until late afternoon. When the evening approached, he received a call from Miao Hualing, who asked him and Su Qiuzi to go to her house for dinner. He Yu spoke to the old man, who agreed and, on his way out, he gave He Yu a red packet. 

The He Family didn’t lack money, but the elders would always give a red packet to the younger generation on every New Year, with the hope of them having a good fortune. He Yu received it with a smile and, after saying goodbye to the old man, he drove home. 

Sleeping peacefully and comfortably, Su Qiuzi woke up around two in the afternoon. After a few minutes, Su Qiuzi got up and tidied herself, then she went to the 24/7 supermarket near her apartment to buy some instant noodles. 

Nowadays, the Spring Festival spirit was not as strong as before, but when one went out, one could still see the difference. On the first day after the Spring Festival, there were very few shops open in the commercial area, leaving rows and rows of glass doors with Spring Festival couplets on them. 

Yesterday afternoon, she was in a hurry to go to the He Family’s residence, but along the way to the tea hall she couldn’t find Spring Festival couplets hung on the house, not even a single lucky charm. This was the first Spring Festival after her marriage with He Yu, and it couldn’t be too sloppy. Su Qiuzi went to the supermarket and around the commercial area to buy some lucky charms and Spring Festival couplets to take home. 

Their home now was decorated in simple and beautiful ornaments and the reddish-red Spring Festival couplets were somewhat aesthetically pleasing. After eating, Su Qiuzi looked for a few pieces of lucky charms and decided to just paste a few of them around the house to invigorate the happy atmosphere. 

Thinking of this, Su Qiuzi took the lucky charms and went to the bedroom and He Yu’s office to put them there first, then took another one and planned to paste it at the front door. 

There was an electronic eye detector on the door, so it seemed that it would be hard to paste the charm there and it was relatively laborious to stick it on. With one hand, Su Qiuzi held the lucky charms so they wouldn’t fall off, and with the other she proceeded to plastered it with the tape. Before she could finish plastering it, she heard the sound of the elevator opening with a ‘ting’ and when she looked at who walked out of the elevator, Su Qiuzi smiled sweetly. 

He Yu also smiled along at her and after seeing what she was going to do, he walked over to support the lucky charms, “You handle the tape.” 

Snapping back to her senses, the girl nodded and gouged out the tape before gluing the four corners of the lucky charms. 

After they were done, the two of them stood in front of the door and looked at it. The door was covered with a square piece of lucky charms, and the otherwise normal door had a bit of a homey feel to it. 

Very satisfied, Su Qiuzi put the tape away and she turned back to ask He Yu, “Why are you back so early?” 

The old man was in the hospital and she had thought that he would have to stay with him until the end of spring break. 

“My grandfather was discharged from the hospital in the morning, and there’s nothing to worry about now.” After He Yu finished speaking, he smiled at Su Qiuzi and said, “My mother called and invited us to come over for dinner tonight.” 

As soon as he finished speaking, the girl’s eyes then lit up, filled with happiness. He Yu knew that she enjoyed being with his mother and also liked playing with Junyin. And in her mother’s house, she could feel many things that she couldn’t feel before, like a mother’s love which he was unable to provide her. 

Seeing her being happy, He Yu also smiled. Then he took a red packet out of his coat pocket and handed it to Su Qiuzi. 

Su Qiuzi was still immersed in the joy of going to Miao Hualing’s house when He Yu handed over something red and she took it naturally with her hand. After receiving it, with a squeeze of her fingers, she felt the outline of what was inside the thick packet and was suddenly so excited that her heart jumped.
